Sure. Getting a few d-men who can actually skate has already worked wonders for the team defense. People can label Borgen and Vaakanainen what they want but to me they look like perfect support players who have made our young guys better. Get one more who can actually play 20+ with Fox and we're right back into contention.

People have been waiting to brag about how they're right.

If we're bad at developing prospects, did Seattle fix his development in 13 games? It's absurd.

Also top 4 D plus two picks, including a 3rd rounder is perfectly adequate for a middle 6 player at best. We got a good return for a good, not great player. If Borgen was a bum instead of a pretty good player who upgraded our biggest weakness ok. But right now it just looks like a big circle jerk of people who want to brag about how much they were right and shitting on the Rangers.

In my 30 years of seriously following this team, NYR have 1 draft pick in the last 30 years that cracked 60 points (not even that high of a bar…) w the NYR (Kreider).

3 others have done it, but not with the NYR (Savard, JT Miller, Buch).

Sure, it’s early. What a disaster it will be if Kakko joins this list. Shoving this blatantly obvious reality aside to call me a hater is exactly the type of cope I find shocking.

They want him cause he is a center with top 6 potential to replace Miller, young and cheap. The injury risk is par for the course when the player that wants out, Miller, is actively playing bad, cause room issues, sign for long term at high cap, has an NMC and will apparently only waive for one team. When those are the factors against you, beggars can not be choosers.

I agree JT wouldn't be for this season. It sure would be fascinating to see the team's reaction if they bring in JTM and launch #55. It could split the room down the middle. That's the gamble I was thinking of. Not that I think Drury would be averse to doing just that.

I’m not against trading Lafreniere at all, but to do it for 32 year old J.T. Miller is unconscionable. How in the f*** is the GM who was ranting and raving because the team got embarrassed for two games after starting out 12-4-1 now doubling down on the same team? At least the Tkachuk rumors made sense considering age and need.

This team is rudderless, the GM is a bonehead.

Yeah, to me this is the biggest indictment Drury is just making it up as we go.

Like they have Larry put out the story they want Tkachuk, okay fine. At least that makes sense. To then pivot to well ya know what, I actually want JT and we want to go all in on him.

Yeah I mean Miller to me sounds like he is trying to go the MacKinnon route of leadership; which is great if you are winning Harts and Cups, but if you aren’t probably plays out a bit like it’s going in Vancouver. But again I don’t think anyone in Colorado is really challenging MacKinnons approach (especially with Landeskog in limbo) either. I do think if you want a guy like that at the helm he has to either be the captain/or best player to set that tone. But again, if everyone here wants to get rid of the country club Rangers, you can’t really go “No, not like that”

That's very fair. As long as he's practicing what he's preaching I think it's a fine style of leadership. Oh and by the way, 1994 stanley cup does not happen without it. Messier is that guy.

this is what matters. Kakko's performance, production, or ascendancy is not relevant to the Rangers future.

*Except* that it is incumbent upon the organization to understand why young players who are viewed as busts, disappointments, or prone to underperformance while wearing this jersey consistently go on to succeed individually for other franchises.

Fans who have such personal investment in the fault lying with the player and not the organization, such that they are not curious about why we see this pattern playing out, why we cannot see high performing young forwards succeed here, don't make sense to me.
