If we trade for Miller without Zibanejad in the deal, we're going to get absolutely bent over when we then have to trade Zibanejad. While also losing significant assets in the trade to get Miller in the first place. I'd say it's pretty simple logic, but apparently it's too difficult to understand for some people on here.
Well, something shifted since Larry is talking about the core not being replaced. All signs point to Drury loading up whether you like it or not.

Where are these reports?

If the cap goes up that much we're going to see the stupidest offseason ever.
I'm not going to bother looking for the exact links now, but that 97M was IIRC reported even by Friedman. Alan Walsh said it could be up to 99M. Then yesterday, we have this:

Translation: "We've made so much money, you don't actually have to pay taxes for the reminder of the season"

Is it that bad if they have Miller-Mika-Trocheck? We've always said Mika would be great as a 2C. Trocheck as your 3C is a luxury.

If no Laf, Schneider and it's Chytil and the others guys in the deal, you can make it.

The cap going to near 100M this summer is a major development. Can still upgrade the defense with Miller.

I also think they don't need to do anything. 5-0-2 in the last 7. 6-1-2 in their last 9. Just ride the wave for now and see where you are at the beginning of March.
Mika has been the 2c since last season and he’s been the worst he’s ever been. It’s not going to change much for him. His problems are from his declining physical and mental abilities.

No need to bother, this tweet made it easy to find others talking about it so thank you.

Skeptical about the 9 million figure, but 92-93 for next year may be conservative.

I dont think there is a physical decline with him. His skating is still explosive. Watch the recent breakaway chances from the Utah game and tonights game. A couple of those he even had to battle for the puck and create the breakaway himself. The short handed one against Utah and the 1st one in OT tonight where he won a board battle and skated free.

Also, the sequence before the Michigan attempt where he dangled the defender like it was nothing.

Nah, its all mental with him.

we all witnessed how quickly Mika dropped off. Let's see how Miller plays when he's 34/35/36.
I would be all for Miller if he had lets say 2-3 years left on his deal.

Two weeks ago 90 percent of this board wanted to sell/tank now we are talking about trading 3 guys 25 and under including a first rounder for a 33 year old on a long term deal.

The Rangers should do Ranger things. This tiger is not going to (capable of) changing it's stripes. Keep the dino coach. Pay the goalie. Play boring grind hockey. Bring in the Big Names on Stupid Contracts. It's the Rangers way. Let Drury go all out. Hallelujah.

I have no clue if you guys are gonna get JT Miller or not, but what he did tonight is exactly what he did in the playoffs for us, and for the last three seasons.

When he is engaged, he’s an absolute monster on the ice, McDavid probably absolutely hates him.

I want him bad he’s exactly what this teams needs. but I also want him to demand a trade here to further handicap Allvin’s bargaining position. Nothing personal.

Mika is turning into a big fancy version Michael Grabner.
If he were a movie villain from the 80s he’s Jeff Goldblum in Silverado.

The salary cap is set at $92.4M-$92.5M under the current CBA with the 5% increases for next season. The CBA expires in September 2026. However, both sides want to negotiate an extension before this June. In that case, the cap would be set at $97M for next season. EF said $97M a few months ago. However, last night EF reported the NHL and players are discussing setting the next two cap increases. Under the current CBA, the cap is not linked to revenue. Covid. If the cap was linked to revenue, the cap would $110M. He made those comments on 32T a few months ago. Smoothing the cap increases over two seasons so more players will benefit. The Canadian dollar has sucked for years. The NHL teams in the U.S. have had issues with Bally's. Still the cap will increase.

All of these people were worried about Igor at $11.5M. They should be worried about the overpriced junk the Rangers will surround Igor with on this team.
