Absolutely not beneficial trading a guy with only 2 years left on his contract at what 4 million for a guy who basically has a contract going until he is almost 40.

i know Chytil's injury history but we just can not take on Miller unless Mika going back

omg please no.

It is beneficial given that Miller is vastly superior to Chytil and happens to be on a pretty good contract. Not to mention his contract expires in his age 36 season, not 40. It's an additional 3.5M for a much better player who isn't constantly injured.

If Lindgren outlives Laf and Kakko that’s seriously enough to make me stop watching all together.

On that note, you can’t sell me on JT Miller if you don’t also upgrade on Ryan Lindgren this year.

he's scored like a million points. he's getting this level of package

If he didn’t get to pick his spot and bascially drain his GM of what little leverage he already has I’d agree.

The no move clause is a killer. The situation has gotten untenable enough where they’re trying to move him.

They’re not going to return fair value. Sucks for them.

we all witnessed how quickly Mika dropped off. Let's see how Miller plays when he's 34/35/36.
I would be all for Miller if he had lets say 2-3 years left on his deal.

Two weeks ago 90 percent of this board wanted to sell/tank now we are talking about trading 3 guys 25 and under including a first rounder for a 33 year old on a long term deal.

Actually we’re talking about trading for a 31 year old not a 33 year old.

Any particular reason it’s so hard to get the ages correct?

Ok my bad he is gonna be 32 by the trade deadline. So lets split the difference lol

Whatever we think, it seems like Drury is ok with having miller and Mika on the team. I hate it and it’s disappointing because the team has zero plan.just because the deal seems like it’s off doesn’t negate the thought process.
Taking Brooks recent comments from the podcast into consideration (Drury keeping the core for another 3 years.) all signs point to Drury loading up for another run. I could see a 1-2 punch of Miller and Mika down the middle in that scenario.

Mika has looked a lot better lately so I wouldn't hate it for this season

but good lord is it awful for the long term.

Yeah if Miller comes in Zibanejad is a goner this summer IMO.

To @Fitzy's point, the cap bump is going to allow a ton of teams to consider and do a bunch of things this summer. Someone will be willing to dance with Mika.
Sooner I'd think - are they gonna run miller-tro-mika-carrick down the middle and stick Chytil on wing? Mika on wing? There's structural issues to work out before the summer IMO

Keeping this core together for another 3 seasons is absolutely ridiculous. They shouldn’t be together for another season. Even if they make the playoffs this team is not winning a damn thing and their best players aside from Fox are going to be 34, 34, 32 and 32. This winning stretch is disastrous if Drury believes he won’t need drastic changes.

The cap is going up 9mil this summer. The people who are acting like us trading a 1st and a few nothing prospects for JT need to get a grip. Lafreniere and Schneider aren't on the table for a guy who is 30 seconds away from demanding a trade to NY. If they were, the trade would be made. Take a deep breathe folks, idk how you all get this outraged on a nightly basis.

Heh?

Also if someone can post Brooks' latest I'd like to read it.

If we trade for Miller without Zibanejad in the deal, we're going to get absolutely bent over when we then have to trade Zibanejad. While also losing significant assets in the trade to get Miller in the first place. I'd say it's pretty simple logic, but apparently it's too difficult to understand for some people on here.

Is it that bad if they have Miller-Mika-Trocheck? We've always said Mika would be great as a 2C. Trocheck as your 3C is a luxury.

If no Laf, Schneider and it's Chytil and the others guys in the deal, you can make it.

The cap going to near 100M this summer is a major development. Can still upgrade the defense with Miller.

I also think they don't need to do anything. 5-0-2 in the last 7. 6-1-2 in their last 9. Just ride the wave for now and see where you are at the beginning of March.

I see your point but I am in the camp of get to the dance and anything can happen. Lindgren needs to be replaced though.
