Speculation: Roster Building Thread : Part XV (Light em up!)

laugh all you want
point is on paper, there is no reason what I said can't be done
I'm not one of your haters or whatever, I enjoy you treating this as entertainment.

But what you suggested is... simplistic to put it nicely. I even gave you an example to look at and chew on (Utah is a very interesting case study!) and you instead waved your hands and said "yes but if it's different then it's different!"

Lik, ok dude, just be smarter, got it.

Kreider's word is good enuf
so not necessary wise guy
also
it is more than plausible given he is THE ONLY guy who takes a beating in front of the crease incl on PP

do you have eyes w/which to see this?
Lmao.

Bern the Doctor folks. I guess he talks to you on the side, so his word is good "enuf".

Silliness at it's finest.

glad to keep it friendly
as to UT, tell me, I will judge what you say on the merits

why, why can't it trade up/down if it finds partners who will do so at the right price?

Lmao.

calling out yr bs
notice you are not refuting what I said about taking a beating in the crease, because...
because...
because...
because...

.... because YOU CAN'T

stop throwing shade esp when you're wrong
it's embarrassing

you think he was dead set on keeping the 1st last year? after having traded one the previous 2 deadlines?

1st was on the table. the deal just didn't come together.
You’re answering your own question - the fact that the deal fell through is an indicator that there was no right deal even for the team that was at the top of the league. Drury didn’t go into a bidding war nor did he spent a 1st on plan B players. The right deal where a first could have been moved was going to be for someone like Hanifin with the goal to keep him long term.

The one bad futures trade, the Kane one, they were so badly prepared for I have to believe the owner forced.

And now he can go back to the owner and point to that debacle and say "not again".

Don't think another bad futures trade is happening.
Same here. From everything that Drury has done in his time says he was only interested in bringing Tarasenko and Mikkola. Kane wasn’t his type of addition.

Everything is always on the table, as it should be.

$50 bet to charity of your choice if Drury deals this coming 1st for either a rental or someone with 1 more year of control?

If he keeps it or deals it for a longer term piece (2+ years of control) I choose the charity.

Deal?
great idea. you're on.

you are assuming it is all or nothing
it might be he can go part time w/treatment
and he may be seeing what he can do

but he can't play for himself and try to cover zib's pathetic ass
hope you are reading this, mika

disagree
if they are really smart, they can leverage those 2nds into current + future 1st/2ds
Zib is PPG the last 6 now. He's turned it around to an extent. Keep spouting your narrative though, it's all you have.

FWIW...Pinto had a big game for the Sens last night in their romp over the flightless birds . He also had his first 2 goal period ever....which was mentioned in the broadcast . ALSO.....and this is quite a stat...take NOTE....Ottawa had not ONE but SIX of their 2020 draft picks playing last night and three were from round one . It blew me away !!!

Are you his doctor?
Kreider spoke out about back spasms from his November IR stint. Larry Brooks and co talked about it on their latest podcast with Boyler saying back spasms are the absolute worst.

Honestly, the best Kreider can do is to sit out for like <looks up TDL date> 6 weeks, come back healthy and play 2 spectacular weeks. Either show up in prime form and help the team make a deep run -- or pump up that TDL value so we can move on from him. If rest is all it takes for 2022 Kreider to return, I'm all for it. I think the hard part about being in your 30s is coming to terms with your body just needs more time to recover from even the smallest of things. I hate it when athletes come back too early because of their pride.

How much money does the NHL and Dolan stand to make from the Four Nations tournament? What’s more valuable, a healthy Kreider at that tournament, or him playing these dog days January NHL games? Honest question.

I’m still in the start over boat but we know that’s not gonna happen.

There are too many factors at play even before we go into what’s good or detrimental to the team. First, there are many definitions of “back spasm”. It can range from some level of discomfort to completely debilitating unable to move state. Another factor is pain tolerance which varies person to person but I’d guess that among athletes at that level the tolerance is pretty high - much higher than an average person and in some - that level is complete bonkers. And like it or not there’s NHL culture that expects / requires to play through pain.

I think if this back issue is prolonged, Kreider will opt out because he knows there are guys better off to go. I do not think he would be that selfish. Like, Tage Thompson is sitting right there healthy.

Kreider should take as much time as possible. There are plenty of wingers we could give a look too. This is what sucks about Kakko not working, we'd have a legit top 6 wing coming in to replace him.

It always amazes me how much credit people will give a GM for getting rid of their own mistakes. Especially when the acquisitions were obviously bad at the time, or when the bad player was given an absurd amount of run before even getting rid of them

I wonder if Buttface has rules about players missing/opting out of 4 nations similar to ones in place for missing all-star game/events.

I think your analysis is accurate. Therefore it's reasonable to conclude that for a back spasm to be serious enough for a professional athlete in a sport with a "play through the pain" mentality, for Kreider to be out, the issue is going to be far beyond the "discomfort" level and closer to the "hurts to move" and "debilitating to my ability to perform on the ice" levels.

Get better Chris. You're no use to us playing crippled. He should be forced to jump out of chest high deep swimming pool water to get activated.

Kreider will play in the tournament unless he is dead.

Miller-Borgen has been playing like a legitimate 1st pairing, i can't believe it.

Schneider and Vaak have been fine too, way better than most teams 3rd pairs. it's no coincidence that once the defense started playing well so did certain forwards and the entire team as a whole. there's $20mil in cap space to upgrade Fox's partner, if they get the right guy this team might have something.

That’s right - and I’m wrote it to those that say he’s obviously had to come out earlier. We probably can agree on this now with hindsight of what transpired since but a month or a couple of weeks ago - it probably wasn’t nearly this obvious.

happy to tell it like it ACTUALLY is
I acknowledged uptick, but again:
1) that doesn't justify the shit he pulled without any reason whatsoever
YOU CAN CAPITULATE ON THAT NOW, YOU CAN'T REPUDIATE THAT, IT IS HISTORY

2) his defense needs to get better, ESPECIALLY BODY CHECKING
you're gonna lose that one too, game video = eye test substantiating what I say

Zibanejad has never been a "BODY CHECKER". Neither has McDavid. Or Eichel. Or a whole slew of elite centers. It's not in everyone's game.

What shit did he pull that the rest of the team didn't? The whole team was garbage for two months.
