Difficult to see a trade with the Canucks who appear to want a top pairing defenseman in any deal,
Vancouver is supposedly very interested in Isles Noah Dobson. Vancouver is in a tough position but nonetheless is looking to fleece a team in the process.

Acquiring a top line center is an ancillary issue to fixing the defense.

I watched a clip of K'Andre's game on twitter. He actually looked very good defensively outside of that ridiculous delay of game and some lackadaisical plays with the empty net. He and Borgen did a good job against Pasta/Marchand line. Borgen is like Trouba but he can skate well and will go back and forth with the other team's top players.

Lindgren continues to be an obvious area to upgrade. Bruins got McAvoy a 6'6 angry russian to play with and we have a jack russell terrier. Getting another top 4 d should be the priority because if you get a guy who can take the load off Miller, it's the best move for his development and the team.

post this again and again.

use any forward not named troch laf cuylle or perreault and replace lindgren with a real top 4 LHD to pair with Fox. Replace Housley. See this team reignite.

I am willing to bet the cap next year is 94 million. But lets say it's 92. Thats 14.5 million in cap. Give or take a million id say. I only included guys that would still be here in the scenario I laid out in my original post and were RFAs. Not UFAs. No kreider. No Z. Don't tell me it can't be done cause money. Thats lazy.

I'd sign Gavrikov no doubt. For a center, I'd still think Gourde would be cheap and fit well with Othmann and Berard as a 3rd line. One of the few centers available that isn't bad and might get less money on his next contract. But I wouldn't be opposed to Frederic either.

He came out on top because he has Sather's backing......When he was named GM (or Asst. GM) in Hartford, it became obvious that he was being groomed to be the club's GM. However, I think ousting JD and Gorts really made a mess of things -- they expected Drury to "train" a lot longer than he did.

No it isn’t. There are far more teams with a top line center and a shit defense than the opposite.

And how many of those top line centers were actually "acquired"? This is a straw man argument that I wasn't making.

Most top/elite centers are drafted and either never move (Crosby, Malkin, Drai, McDavid, McKinnon, etc...) or move once late or very late in their careers (Stamkos).

Very few Eichel's out there. A whole lot more legit 1A/1B defensemen are moved every year or sign as UFA's.

I endorse removing Housley from the staff. Muse handles our PK, right? It is consistently effective. Why can’t he manage our D-zone scheme and handle deployment? Dolan should enforce a ban on man-on-man coverage. Zadorov walked in completely untouched from the red line in the third period last night. Hopeful stick checking. Just try zone coverage. How can it be worse than current state? Mind boggling.

VAN has cap space to absorb K'Andre's salary so they aren't even forced to add by cap.
JTM for Mika K'M. Where we're at, you make that trade. If Drury can squeeze a bit more out, then great but I don't think you nix the deal just because you didn't get Wallinder. That would be awesome but should not be expected. Would love to get a VAN 2nd to fill our draft holes.

Miller and Mika for JT isn't a bad trade considering how things are going...I mean both those guys could recover and make it a bad trade but current results would have JT being the best player in that trade. Assuming he's healthy. I dunno wtf is going on with him.
but he's still 31 and has lots of term left on his contract which is eh

but what are the rangers plannign to do about their LD if they trade MIller

Gotta give to get. I get not wanting to create a gaping hole on the left side but don't delude yourself thinking UFA Lindgren is a sufficient replacement in the deal. Not gonna get done. If you aren't giving K'M, you're sending something significant in his place like a 1st this year or next year.
