Speculation: Roster Building Thread : Part XV (Light em up!)

I mean against the Devils there will be fireworks

Coming off of a long suspension I expect we'll see church mouse Rempe.

His detractors will point to him being a non factor physically and how the rest of his skills aren't NHL level and his supporters will blame the league for castrating him until he's either sent down in an attempt to learn how to hockey or he can't help himself and he does something dumb again.

Thats the next chapter of this saga.

Rangers have more than one issue to deal with. The one Drury started addressing is overpaid player not playing up to their contracts. I disagree with the country club sentiment but it's clear that in trying to address the first issue Drury faced the locker room insubordination or mutiny or whatever you want to call it. And this derailed the part 2 of the original issue - substituting overpaid players with those better suited for the role (specifically LD1).

What is this "locked room insubordination" you are referring to?

All I said previously about what Drury "was doing" was that he had a "type" as far as players he was drafting and trying to acquire goes, and they weren't of the country club mindset.
In the last post I merely addressed you saying Drury was jettisoning overpaid players, as if that wasn't obvious. Of COURSE he's jettisoning overpaid underperforming players... every GM should be attempting to do that. That is not a negative.
If you are asking me to outline Drury's detailed plan, you're out of luck. The guy doesn't much address fans/media. But really what GM outlines his strategy publicly? Other than saying they want to build a winning team and bring home the Cup? I don't know what you're looking for, though you seem for me to want to blame everything on Drury, but I've got nothing more to offer you.

No worries. Came here trying to find out why the rangers have seemingly collapsed this year thinking the answer was pretty obvious to regular fans of the team.

However the more I dig it seems that the fans have some theories, but really don't know what's going on behind the scenes....And certainly not what the "plan" forward is.

So I leave thinking the answer is...There are no concrete answers and the truth (if Drury has a plan/is good at his job) will unfold over time.

In the meantime, it's just shocking how embarrassing this team has become in just months, and I just don't think you can chalk it up to, "Well they were never that good to begin with." It's one thing to slip a bit and maybe miss the playoffs after a near Cup run, but to be the 7th worst team in the league (behind teams like the Ducks, Red Wings, Blue Jackets, & Habs) is mindblowing. Literally no one had this season on their Bingo card.

Locker room.

This group lost comradery and team unity that they all talked about during last year's run. With what transpired this year starting with offseason situation affected this comradery as a whole and in turn - their on-ice performance because the "subtractions" didn't drive on ice results with their performance. Coach's instructions were not heard, team as a group was not engaged, skating half speed. Did all of them suddenly and simultaneously start having a down season? I don't believe so. That means that something else has been brewing there and I referred to it as locker room insubordination

Is the "offseason situation" you are referring to is getting rid of Goodrow and getting out the word that Trouba was available?

Assuming so wouldn't then that be Drury destroying the "camaraderie and unity" of the locker room???

Yes it seems it did but the point is this locker room outcome is not on Drury for doing his job - he made moves that had to be made - it's on the remaining players stop doing their job that they are paid for.
