Getting away from the Panarin news since there isn’t much more to say about it.

When looking at the three names most discussed in the should we move them talks…

Of the three Zibanejad has the worst (and most unmovable) contract. He played mostly like poop but still put up 60 points, so if we can rely on him just not regressing further, let alone any type of rebound, he’s a 60 point guy who can PK, win 50% of his draws and at least has some offensive flare. Overpaid at 60 points, but mildly serviceable. I can’t stand how he always looks like someone just ran over his dog, but whatever. He doesn’t strike me as a leader who actually influences team culture much at all. Maybe we can postulate that his DJ lifestyle isn’t the best influence for young guys like Laf who can’t decide if they wanna be hockey stars or just rich playboys, but he mostly feels 110% like a follower, not a leader or tone setter.

Kreider’s more moveable by far. It won’t be difficult. He tanked his return value but you’re talking about entirely different situations. Meanwhile, Kreider had like 27 points. He realistically was the spiritual successor to take the reins of this team from Hank and the previous core and he fumbled as a leader miserably. He let the team culture rot under his watch when he should have been the one to step up and take the C instead of Trouba. It is obviously not his fault entirely and theres huge failings on the coaches and management as well, but whatever his legacy as a player and goal scorer for NYR ultimately is, his legacy as a leader is trashed.

Panarin is obviously moveable. The debates have been about whether we’re throwing next season by doing so and if we are shouldn’t it be obvious we’re keeping that pick/why did we go get Miller just trade Panarin and waive the white flag. His production doesn’t need to be discussed, but his attitude towards the game and his miniature side show should be. He’s worn a letter for this team and obviously been a defacto leader over the years. He also has been accused of assaulting a woman, now been accused of sexually assaulting another woman, refused interviews for most of his tenure (and yes, the jokes with the Nokia phone in isolation were amusing, but when viewing the totality of his presence as a veteran and leader on what was once - not long ago - widely considered one of the youngest and most promising teams in the NHL…), refused to play with the team’s young 2OA pick, consistently been underwhelming in the post season, consistently failed to adapt to playing a more straight line brand of hockey and continually exasperated fans beyond reckoning with low percentage cross-ice turnover passes.

With all of that in mind… it’s actually good Mika is the hardest to move. He’ll adapt to whatever culture we build (if we manage to build one). He’s 32 and played decently after 4N; he may even be salvageable. Kreider and Panarin are much more influential and removing them from the room is much more likely to have large results, IMO. Yes, we’ll need to find a way to replace Artemi’s offense. There was never a guarantee he was here after this next season anyway and even if extended how long are we relying on him to continue being a 100 point player? Replacing his offense is an inevitable bridge we have to cross rather soon anyway.

Beyond that, unfortunately, I think Igor has a negative impact on locker room vibes, but we hitched our wagon to that one way or another so hopefully he just brings his A game next year.

HD Save % and Goals Saved Above expected adjusts for team defense.

Laf got paid, his #s went to shit, and everyone is up in arms about it. His character & work ethic are getting dragged, etc.

Igor did the exact same thing and, not a peep.

Laf's scoring rate at 5v5 is basically identical to last year. He had 8 points with one of the goalies pulled last year to 1 this year. That's the main difference between his raw numbers.

The media around the team is either willfully ignorant or just flat out dumb. Surprised Mercogliano hasnt deleted his tweet gagging on Panarin and the "Good Guy" award. Time for him to go back on paternity leave permanently.
I've been trying to tell you guys that the media around this team is completely gutless and then I've got people on this board basically trying to argue with me about which ones are writing "good" articles and which ones aren't but at the end of the day the media is mostly cowering to the players because they need quotes from the players to do their jobs, And if the incident the other day with team PR censoring de Hann didn't tell you enough then I don't know what will finally.

Drury should be fired for covering this up.

I need a new username badly.

Anyone got any suggestions?

He wouldn’t be at all involved in this.

It would be internal counsel for MSG and the Rangers. Insurance companies. Outside counsel. Reps for Panarin. Drury would not be involved. He would be advised of it but he would not have any authority or say so in how it’s handled. It’s actually over his head.

And when you have the history MSG does (google Isiah Thomas and Anucha Browne sanders) they’re gonna pay to get rid of these things quickly whether they’re legit or not.

Vince is weird.

He's the guy who basically brought the shit about the team not being able to communicate/mingle with MSG employees to light.

Maybe he truly didn't know the extent of what happened or the specifics about who was involved but you hear rumblings when you're that close to the situation (even if they're unconfirmed.) You'd think he would have hedged against basically fawning over Panarin because I'm sure that name had bounced around even if he didn't know for sure.

Drury is a failure. He’s has “managed” to destroy this locker room and drive the reputation of an O6 franchise into the toilet.

He needs to be gone immediately. Start over. Top to bottom cleaning. Address the root the problem first.

Dolan isnt going anywhere

imagine they won the cup last year and their best player ended up being a sexual predator. it would be completely ruined for me. i'm glad they lost now.
