I'm so close to being a Sharks fan, man. Their social media and PR is great if you have 15 minutes to burn.
I've found other teams to scratch the itch for me over the years.

If I didn't care about being on HF, I don't know if I would do this anymore.

Yeah something isn't right. It's obvious that some rotten stench is hanging over the locker room.

People telling me all year it was "fan fiction" though. Must be nice for them to be in such denial of something obvious to anyone paying attention. Trouba and Goodrow sucked on the ice in many tangible and intangible ways but seemed at least like stand-up guys off it. Telling with how the behavior of these players changed when those 2 were shown the door. rats off a sinking ship.

I find it interesting that this came out the morning of Sam’s last game which is kind of a big day for the franchise.

This has been in progress since Dec 2023 yet comes out today, of all days.

Did Strang release the story today on purpose, or did a source leak the information to her to coincide with this? Or am I connecting dots that aren’t connected (probably)?

Just seems to have an extra twist of the knife to release it this morning. Quite possibly rightfully so.
Obviously doesn’t change the validity of the report but I imagine there was some sort of strategy here with the timing, thought the same thing surrounding him being awarded the good guy award, did she hold back knowing that was gonna happen? Just a thought

This team has earned everything that happens so it doesn’t bother me if somebody wanted to stick it to them

Yeah, I understand why people are saying she should report it as soon as he takes the phone.

You have to remember that she's a female staffer in a male dominated industry and he's the star player on the team. If she reports that before he does anything physical, she's in trouble and not him.
This is also in the post-Blackhawks cover up. It's not exactly an environment promoting transparency and accountability. Why someone wouldn't say something makes perfect sense to me. Especially when your career is on the line for it.

Maybe the kids are more like Charles and less like fat oaf.

James Dolan has the IQ of a duck.

We all knew that firing Gorton and Davidson on a whim because of a scrum in a meaningless game against the Caps would come back to haunt us. I had my problems with Gorton, mostly because of Gordie Clark and Nick Bobrov's horrendous drafting record. However, Gorton has done an excellent job in Montreal. He's developed many exciting young players: Hutson, Slafk, and now Demidov. They made the playoffs, and they're posed for long-term success. Meanwhile, Drury is trading potential Gavin McKenna lottery tickets for a 32 year-old center.
Ironically enough, Bobrov seems to be doing fine in Montreal.

It says "NHL source" and the whole thing probably had to go through the NHL itself so sounds like someone there
it also says "several people in the organization were are aware... and some of those individuals spoke to The Athletic on the condition that their identity not be disclosed because they still work in hockey."

Sounds like people who were in NYR org (players or staff) and no longer are... but work at a different org.

If this is true, and Katie Strang doesn't f***ing miss so it seems unlikely it isn't, Panarin can f*** right off to the KHL to hang out with Voynov.

We have enough wingers who’s offensive talent relies on someone else creating space/breakdowns with their pace/puck carrying ability.

If we go after any pricier ufa it should be ehlers. He can fly and is a guy who attacks with the puck. He’s not a perfect solution but there isn’t one…more than anything else though this top 6 needs an injection of pace and aggression on the puck. They need a presence who puts guys on their heels when they get the puck and consistently challenges defenders on the attack. However they address it…trade, ufa, offer sheet, whatever…that needs to be as high a priority as any this offseason.

Find someone who backs teams off, creates broken plays with their pace, causes coverage breakdowns, can beat defenders 1 on 1 and looks for opportunities to do it. Right now the rangers top 2 lines are basically dependent on the opponent having self-inflicted wounds to generate any offense. They have virtually zero ability to break a puck out into a rush that generates a scoring chance, generate of a nz regroup, or create coverage breakdowns from ozone possession for chances with their on and off puck movement.

There’s not a good team in the league without at least 1 truly dynamic presence in their top 6. The rangers have plenty to look themselves in the mirror about this offseason, both individually and as an organization, but there’s no more critical pure roster need to address than adding a dynamic skill presence.
Absolutely agree. Ehlers would be a great get. Boeser isn't a good skater and relies on his elite shot to be productive. Sure he played well with JT at one time. Doesn't matter because he'd be a square peg here.

So you think she just, what, made it up and got a payout anyway?

Boy howdy, I have a great new idea to become a millionaire!
I’m an attorney. I am very familiar with sexual assault cases in my practice.

The woman was investigated for giving meds to another player and was put on leave. She then reported it to the team after she felt was treated unfairly, months after the incident. The team and player gave her $ and had her sign an NDA, likely to avoid a PR nightmare. They had an independent law firm investigate and provide a report to the NHL. The NHL issued no discipline and closed the matter.

Now I’m not saying nothing happened because frankly the story just got released. I don’t have enough information so perhaps I shouldn’t have said it seems like a nothing story, that was irresponsible of me.

But to suggest that powerful or wealthy people don’t pay out settlements to avoid PR and legal battles even when they believe they are innocent is an ignorant position to take. It is not evidence of liability or guilt in any way shape or form.

More facts about the allegations are needed to really call him a “predator.” In my opinion at this juncture, rushing to judgment is irresponsible on all sides, so I withdraw my comment that it’s a nothing story, but we should also tone down the predator talk.

The 4 minute Kaapo Kakko video the Kraken posted a week ago clears everything the NYR social media/PR has done in recent memory
Perhaps rather than root for teams, I start rooting for individual players instead. Unless they play for a rival like the Devils, Pens, Caps, or Islanders, I'll be happy for players like McDavid, Heiskanen, Hellebuyck, etc if they win a Cup. Really talented players that play for the love of the game and don't get up to extracurriculars.

My memory is fuzzy, Jim Ramsey was let go in summer 2023 right?

Boeser would be an abysmal add. Like literally the dumbest add this team can possibly make this offseason.

Vatrano is basically the same player but smaller and faster and half the price of what Boeser will likely get. I hated the idea of adding Vatrano when his name was being thrown around and that would be adding McDavid compared to Boeser.

If his market blows and he’s game for a one year prove it deal then it’s worth looking into if you’re shipping a ton of goals out there are other areas of focus that need way more attention than goal scoring.
I feel the same way about Fiala when people suggest acquiring him in a Panarin trade.
