I see that talking heads are always pushing the youth angle with this team, but what youth does this team actually have that is good? I mean we just had a crop of youth players completely flame out. There's Will, Perreault, Othmann, Laf (lol), I mean this is not some crop of kids to hang your hat on. You need young talent to have a youth movement, and we don't have a lot of young talent, our GM traded them all/or the resources to obtain them. There's no current youth movement, it would be a tank movement, which I'm ok with as long as that moron Drury is nowhere in the building.

Mika has no contractual right to be in the lineup. As long as they are paying him they don’t need to include him in jack shit. Now we’d need to REALLY IMPROVE for him to not be one of our best 12 forwards, so I’m not saying it’s what the team should do, just that they would be within their rights.

Mika Zibanejad is literally a 65.035 point per 82 game player and will be 32 in 4 days. Vincent Trochek is literally a 59.114 point per 82 game player and will be 32 in July. You are talking a whole lot of smack about a 6 point difference in guys who have VAST sample sizes to base this comparison upon. Not to mention 1/3 of Mika’s career points have come on the PP and 1/4 of Trochek’s have. And Trochek has been a superior penalty killer, physical player, face off man, etc.
