Pandolfo is the only non retread I can see Drury hiring.

BU connection, some pro experience. Not a dissimilar profile to Quinn when he was hired but a better track record of success.

BU has been pretty good under his watch though that’s another team that has had a ton of NHL picks.

None of this matters unless Drury goes. You can hire Scotty Bowman in his prime to be the HC, but the rot that Drury has put into this organization isn't going away until he does.

If Patrick Roy gets fired in the Islanders housecleaning, he will almost certainly be on the Rangers list. They interviewed him in 2022 before hiring Peter Jong Un. Just an observation, not an endorsement. He certainly has made his share of hapless players take their ball and go home in his career.
From what I remember, all the Rangers reporters said the team wanted absolutely nothing to do with him in 2022. Can't imagine that's changed after his Isles tenure.

I think he was making fun of the players for being upset at management over issues above their pay grade.

TB did the same stuff with McDonagh after they lost to Colorado in the finals. Accept the trade to Nashville or we are waiving you. Do you want to play in Columbus? Trucker was upset. I am sure there were TB players upset to see McDonagh in that situation. The team didn't mope and refuse to play. Two years later, McDonagh is back in TB.

Food fight is junior high school stuff.

Brooks admitted Kreider is the biggest culprit. Everyone knew that. These guys are professional athletes. Kreider can't be the only guy.
brooksie said kreider is king baby?

The problem with some of these names is that it doesn't resolve an area of our weakness - skating. These are quick fixes for next year to not suck. We can't throw money at slow skaters/bad skaters. We just don't have the pieces to compliment them.

I'm actually less against the idea of Marner than some fans, especially if the ask isn't absurd and we can move some pieces around, which is he hard part, obviously.

I know, I know, "but what about the playoffs?"

You have to still get to the playoffs. I'm not suggesting we break the bank here, or even signed him, but the idea of Marner isn't terrible compared to some of the payers thrown around that won't really compliment an area we suck at. You have to pay for elite talent. You can't be scared to sign a player for 10+m. 7 straight seasons of 90+ pace. He's an elite player. The team needs to get faster, play with a faster pace, and open lanes with their skating ability. Those are 3 different things and all areas we suck at.

If the direction isn't a retool and we're going to blow this up, then obviously you don't go in that direction.

It really doesn't matter who the coach or GM is because you cant trade 20 players off the roster and 0 coaches have gotten them to give a consistent effort on a day to day and year to year basis. That's the legacy of Mika, Kreider, Panarin, etc. because largely we haven't known what we were getting from them individually on a game to game basis. And it was definitely never a guarantee we were getting their best. Month long disappearing acts were a staple of these leaders.

What young players are stepping into the coming leadership void? They wont even play Cuylle on the top powerplay or in the top 6 consistently. Hard to lead from the back.

Definitely. Drury will be joining the fossil out the door next time.
It is hard to believe the best hockey coach outside the NHL won't go pro . Gardiner MacDougall the coach of Moncton Wildcats will probably lead them to a Memorial Cup this year . He has dominated everywhere he has coached . He took over the coaching role of a defeated host team of the Memorial Cup tournament a couple of years back and after only a few practices they won it all !!! His UNB hockey clubs just WON WON WON .All his pedigree shows is WINNING . He will likely win the Memorial Cup again this season....they have 11 losses this season . Just read up on him . The Rangers should be al over this fellow....throw the money at him to be an AHL coasch at the very least.....Check him out RB . I wonder as well if he is only coaching Junior because his son is the GM of his current club ? He is definitely a different breed of person but he coaches winners .

Jared Nightingale. I remember him. He played for the Rangers minor league teams. Michigan State. He is 42 years old. This is his first head coaching job. Five years experience as an assistant coach in USHL, OHL and AHL.

Cincinnati has a good eye for identifying coaches. Carbery. Warsofsky.

Nightingale is on the path to running an NHL team in the future.
Watched Nightingale play down here in Charlotte back when the Checkers were in the ECHL and affiliated with the Rangers. He was a star here for the Checkers, always did see that coaching ability in him, good to see him having success in that role!

Warsofsky also was a great coach here for the AHL Checkers.
