They would have had 4 picks in the top 70 this draft. But nope we had to the first pick in the third round for Nemeth number 2. And we have to pay him next year too

I agree. I’m done with the Rempe experiment. I just couldn’t believe an NHL defenseman would do what Jones did, I guess because the camera caught it just right.

Idk who you want to sit. Mika/Kreider? Im totally down to give them 4th line ice time but definitely not sit them for Rempe lol. Rempe isn’t good
stop
ok to be critical but be fair
kid did not get enuf growing pains mins this season or last
still made great strides
at dif times has looked good w/Edstrom = but ed = injured
and Brodz but Brodz placed all over the lineup b'c top lines not consistent

w/more training and time, kid will not only be fine but have legit potential if in addition to other uses he can develop a shot

Maybe he'll retire. Although it would be tough to leave $6.5M on the table that he's due in each of the next two seasons.
LTIR = no prob

For president/GM, I would think Dolan would want someone who he's familiar with and who worked for/played with the Rangers. We don't much have a track record to work off of, but Sather was obviously his consigliere and now it's Dreary. I don't think we'll try to bring back JD, but that wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. He should've never been let go in the first place, but that little backstabbing weasel Drury had other plans.

So IDK who Dolan would go with or who Dolan would even trust. Maybe Adam Graves? Messier? Sean Avery!? Yeah, IDK. The only two guys available for president that I can think of who meet the standards I mentioned and are available (i.e. no Kelly McCrimmon) AND have experience are Don Maloney, Kevin Lowe, and Craig MacTavish.

bern, I’ve been watching him the last few games, and I can’t remember when he has received a pass cleanly coming out of his own end. At this point, I think he should be in Hartford until his mind catches up to how big his body is. Like most big guys, he has trouble with the puck near his feet. He’s clumsy, he falls down a lot, and he takes a lot of penalties. He’s pretty good at forechecking, probably because he’s one of the only ones that does it. He’s also OK at retrieving pucks. You are more patient than I am. If he’s gonna be any more than an enforcer for the Rangers, he needs more time in Hartford.

Makes you wonder how much they can even get in a trade for him. Guy just might be cooked at this point.

The 20+ goals and being able to screen a goalie on the PP still have some appeal.

Plus someone is going to think they can fix him but you may be right. Could very well be the beginning of the end but I’ve seen him rev it up a few times this season which makes me think he’s still got something left in the tank.

agree he's a work in progress still and mo time would not hurt, but he needs to be here
he needs to improve adjustments to the NHL game not ahl
he is not that raw

PIERRE LeBRUN: It’s really an incredible fall from grace when you consider the pre-season expectations, a team that a lot of people picked to come out of the East to go to the Stanley Cup final. It really just never got off the ground.

A lot of drama, a lot of trades, and the Rangers hanging on here for dear life as far as still having a chance to make the postseason.

I can tell you that there’s absolutely no word out of the Rangers, themselves. Very tight-lipped about what might transpire here over the next week, or so.

But in talking to other people around the league, the low-hanging fruit, the expectations from a lot of people I’ve talked to is that Peter Laviolette could get fired.

He’s got another year on his deal, so certainly not a sure thing. But when you look at the body language and the performance of the team over the last month, again, when I’ve talked to other people around the league, that’s probably the easiest conclusion, and so, we’ll see whether or not that happens.

If it does happen, I think it’s important to know this is not about… well, it was "all" about coaching. Let’s be real, there are other issues here in New York. I go back to the way Barclay Goodrow was waived and his exit from New York last summer. I know that didn’t sit well with some Rangers players, and then how Jacob Trouba, the captain, got dealt earlier this season.

I think that there’s some players in that Rangers dressing room that have been upset with the way things have been handled, and it’s led to this malaise that has hung around that team all year long. They’ve just been off.

All of which leads to the next question, Gino, and I’ll ask it for you, which is: What about GM Chris Drury?

My sense there is that he should be okay. I think there’s a lot of loyalty from Jim Dolan, the owner. Chris Drury was pretty busy out of the trade deadline, too, really kind of setting up his off-season with a lot of moves he made. I think Chris Drury plans to be aggressive in trying to retool the Rangers again here this summer.

So again, not a lot of hard answers here, but a lot of people around the league waiting to see what shoe will drop in what has been one of the bigger disappointments in a long time in the NHL from Presidents’ Trophy winners likely missing the playoffs one year later.

All of those players upset about Goodrow and Trouba need to go.

Dolan wasn't very loyal to JD and Gorton. JD was here for less than two years. Both seasons were covid years. 19-20 was cut short due to Covid and 2021 was a 58 game season played in empty or half empty buildings. Dolan fires him after those two seasons?

Even with Gorton it made so sense. He wasn't perfect but he should have allowed to oversee the rebuild until the end. He is a better executive than pizza boy. If the Rangers didn't win a Cup by now under JD/Gorton, make changes.

Now Drury will hire his 3rd head coach in five years. Retool?

Graves is a good idea not sure if he’s game. I love Maloney but he’s too old. He’ll be 69 in July…lol Sean Avery. Big no to Kevin Lowe. I say hire Messier as President let him hire a new GM

I fell to my knees this morning reading that Lebrun report about Drury

Wholeheartedly agree. This f***ing "feelings" nonsense is so f***ing high school it's unbearable. Every single one of these mother f***ers who were "sad" because "of how Trouba and Goodrow were handled" need to be removed from this roster by any means necessary. Whoever these players are, they are the closest living definition to "country club atmosphere", or "cancerous"

I don’t believe that 100% true imo, look at the Knicks and Leon Rose. Rose was a bigtime CAA agent and it was a surprise that he got the Knicks POBO job. So I could see Dolan try that if there is an equivalent CAA Hockey agent that he has a good relationship too.

So let’s break this down. The General Manager’s job is to manage the team. The failures of this season are blatantly due to management.

Regardless of whether Drury was correct in his assessment that Goodrow and Trouba needed to go (he was by the way), he could not have managed the situation more poorly. It’s not often that the veil gets lifted on the inner workings of professional sports teams, but we saw all of this dysfunction on full display starting last summer.

Even if you want to blame the players for being too soft and emotional, you have to start by blaming the manager who created the environment in which those feelings bubbled over. This is all Drury’s fault. He’s the manager. He’s in charge. He dictates the organizational environment and is ultimately responsible for the results.

The fact that his job is safe is insane.

Drury has been an asshole since his days in Hartford, he's almost single handedly ruined our young talent and he should be loaded up and shot into the sun before he is allowed any other moves. It should have happened before Kakko got traded. I realize some moves had to be made, the trouba and Goodrow ones to be exact but the way he went about it lead the dressingroom to not wanna help him keep his job that's my take on it all.

Just assume Panarin and Kreider are gone. I have to assume that Drury will get a forward back in one of those deals and likely a young defenseman.

Beyond that, what would they actually need at forward? Othmann, Berard, Perrault all should play. Edstrom and Rempe should play. Likely Zibanejad is still here. Cuylle. Lafreniere. Thats 8 wingers. Brodzinski is #13.

I could see Drury liking Frederic. He plays the style of game he’s likely looking to build towards. I’m skeptical that he will live up to his next contract however.

Fix the defense. Get all of the players playing the same style.

I am very much looking forward to moving on from Panarin but if we go into next season minus he and Kreider with Frederic the only add at forward we are beyond f***ed.
