Mika and Kreider should be sent to the gulag for the pathetic display of leadership this year, and frankly the last few years where mercenary mouth-breathers like Trouba and Barkley had to carry the torch. GTFO my team. We shouldve kept McDonagh and Zuccarello and made them the captains over these f***ing clowns. Never seen long time Rangers shit on their own legacies like the old married couple did this year. Kreider should be waived if no one wants him (why would they?) and Mika will probably retire back to Sweden to support his wife's broadcasting career when he cant buttbump and hug Chris before and after every game.

Replied in the draft watch thread accidentally but yes this is it. Give Pittsburgh the pick this year unless it’s like top 5.

We need a new coach and some UFA upgrades to replace the rotten core (Zib, Kreider) and we could conceivably be in a better spot.

Depends who we target.

Marner would be great but I know it flies in the face of Drury’s fascination with grit. Same with Ehlers. Doesn’t have the tenacity but does bring scoring touch.

Bennett and Marchand would make us harder to play against and help overhaul the room but is there anything meaningful left on the bone for Marchand. Also, Bennett will be in huge demand and could easily become Goodrow 2.0 (overpaid) down the road and not sure how much a difference a consistent 40-50 point player will make.

Panarin - Trocheck - Laf
Marner/ Marchand - Miller - Perrault

Might not be half bad. But this would also require us to inject scoring into bottom 6 because right now it’s a lot of unproven youth and vets with minimal scoring presence.

Those are the kind of players we do need but we have no choice but to hope one of the Hartford guys can develop into that. we just can't sign Bennett to a 6/7 year deal at what 7-8 million per?
Marner is a terrific player but not giving a winger Panarin plus money.
Same with Ehlers terrific talent but we need a center or actually a competent d man.

Agree. He does not appear to possess the level off on ice or off ice dedication needed to be an impact player. Lazy Laf is -17 with 16 goals in 78 games and paid 7.4 mil. Brodzinski makes $ 787,500 is a +7 and has 11 goals in 47 games. This will end badly for the Rangers.

2-3 yrs at $4m to PK, provide leadership and some secondary scoring. Marchand on the 3rd line with Cuylle and a decent center would be great.

Problem is Edstrom is a bit untested as 4C and this results in pushing Berard and Othmann down.

Honestly in talking it through we need a strong 3C and a winger to provide offense in the top 6.

Let Edstrom, Brodzinski, Carrick, Rempe and a UFA vet fight it out for 4th line minutes.

Put Cuylle and Berard on 3rd line with a solid 3C.

Second line can be UFA (Ehlers, Marner) with Miller and Othmann.

1st line stays as is. Getting Marner will be tricky and doesn’t do much to change the composition of the team as he’s small shifty winger but he’s a top 10 winger and can help add secondary scoring as Panarin drops off over time. The key will be moving on from Kreider and Zibanejad.

Kreider is going to finish the season with less than 30 points.

I don't really think there is a question who the most disappointing player on the team has been. He has as many primary assists this season as Carson Soucy has as a Ranger.

Panarin's point drop off from last year to this year is going to be around 30 points but we knew some level of fall off was coming, 120 is a f***ing high ceiling to fall from though.

Kreider's raw point production drop off from last year to this year is going to be damn close to 50 points. I think theres some bad luck involved but not almost 50 points worth.

Makes you wonder how much they can even get in a trade for him. Guy just might be cooked at this point.

Building around a solid center core and letting Cuylle, Berard, Othmann, GP develop is a sound strategy.

We made need more eventually, but you want the C and D locked down first. Not optimistic that we can get where we need to be on either of those fronts however.
