I think youll hear the Sullivan talk again. He almost left Pitt 2 years ago but they decided to give it one more go. They are further away now than they were 24 months ago. I’m not sure why he’d want this job, but we all know Drury is madly in love with him.

Also, be prepared for the real possibility of Q.

He's got way too much insight of all the little nuances that make up a succesful hockey player.

Seems a waste to have him in the studio a few minutes a night and not on the ice teaching/coaching or running as head of one of the Player Dev/Scouting Depts.

Unless he's been offered and declined chosing to have his toe in the water but enjoy retirement.

And that's fair. But I would make him and his company a big offer to take over the pro scouting department. If it were me, he'd be director of pro scouting. And maybe even have him hire the director of player development to connect the departments and get them on the same page. The dude knows what he is looking at. Fill out the amateur department from there and from bottom to top play a game based on speed and aggressive checking.

While i wouldnt mind sullivan… i want us to find a sullivan from 15 years ago more. Aka, a young coach that brings in new ideas and ways to get the most out of our youth.

Sullivan won his Cups with a top 5-10 and a top 30 all time player at C, and found a way to make a team with both Tkachucks, Matthews, J Hughes, Eichel, etc look offensively inept. So I'm sure he's the guy.

I think they're both safe.

And I can say, well look Chris Kreider is third on the team in goals with 21 in only 64 games. But that's kind of sad when you consider the season in totality. It's all how you want to look at things. Kreider has had a really poor season. What's that mean for the rest of them if he's still third?

And then I could say that Lafreniere has what, 3 goals in his last 31 games or something like that?

It's all how you look at it.

Yeah, I think it sucks. Hahahaha. But yeah its how you look at it.
Just saying this year I think his play is a product of, rather than a cause of, the mess. Kreider also has only FIVE assists on the year and his rate of point production per game is down about 55%... Laf's is down about 20%... seriously bad enough, but nowhere near as bad as Kreider. Trocheck, who I like, is down about 25% in his production rate... Zib is down about 20% (let's not even talk about how far down he is from '22-23 (about 35%)), Pan is down about 25%...
So yeah I want more from Laf, WAY more, but I'll be surprised if I don't see the 23 year old bouncing back next year. The others... their curve is probably opposite.

All the baggage aside, Quenville isn't the way I'd want to go.

He's very much a WEEEEEEE hockey coach and we don't really have the roster to play that way and teams that play that way almost never win when it matters.

Colorado's the only one thats been able to do it and they got amazing matchups along the way to make it happen.

I would ask these things though. What are the biggest issues with the rangers? Many would point to the room, accountability, and effort. What are things that torts is always praised for and has been especially since leaving phili? The room, accountability, and effort. Different teams/orgs need different coaches/presences at different points. The rangers have been a ship without a compass since the years of David Quinn, and there are many that have been around the team that think the same was true when AV was there and that he benefited tremendously from the culture torts built before he was fired. I find it hard to believe that if torts was anywhere near this organization that Mika and kreider would constantly be trotted out there on pp1 to act like slugs, or that laffy would continue to constantly dress and get minutes while he looks like he's thinking about how to install a new radio into a 96 civic instead of focusing on his actual job, or allowing a disaster like Housley to maintain his toxic hold on this defense and defensive "system." Torts is overboard at times for sure but he has demands from his players and he is a standards and culture building coach. Right now this team has no standards and no culture. I'm not saying they need to hire torts, but they definitely need a coach that can help reset this franchise and who will have actual standards that are demanded of these players. Too many pushover, hands off coaches recently that talk tough to the media but shrink up when dealing with the players.

Are we serious with this? Torts has lost every room he's been in since he left here. Honestly he's basically ruined what was considered a young and up and coming team. I think people forget the journey hes been on since he left here. The guy is coasting off his stanley cup win that St.Louis, boyle, Richards, and Lecavalier handed him. We can get a coach without recycling another coach who has a best before date. It's not Torts or nobody. There's tons of coaches out there, and I was told that Laviolette was gonna "straighten" these guys out, old school coaching doesn't work anymore. Been through it, players want a two way street now because they get paid no matter what, the only guy getting fired for lack of production is the coach, so guys like Torts and Laviolette can't make it anymore because players tune them out without mutual respect. Call it soft or whatever but everyone has to understand that once a guy gets a multi million dollar contract in his pocket he doesn't wanna be yelled at like a little kid, because he doesn't have to anymore. Drury and Laviolette haven't moved on to the new style of nhl'er, and they are both still stuck in the 80s

Kreider is going to finish the season with less than 30 points.

I don't really think there is a question who the most disappointing player on the team has been. He has as many primary assists this season as Carson Soucy has as a Ranger.

Panarin's point drop off from last year to this year is going to be around 30 points but we knew some level of fall off was coming, 120 is a f***ing high ceiling to fall from though.

Kreider's raw point production drop off from last year to this year is going to be damn close to 50 points. I think theres some bad luck involved but not almost 50 points worth.

He aged out and the wear and tear has become insurmountable. Who knew that he would develop back problems? No one could've seen this physical decline because he was always seen as a physical freak.

Resigning Lindgren, extending Igor to a ridiculous contract 24 hours after the Trouba debacle, and bringing in Miller should be enough to seal Drurys fate. He sucks. And he should take Trocheck with him. Don’t know how this guy continues to dodge criticism, he was brutal the entire year. But fun, we get him and miller as bromance 2.0.

Bringing in Miller was the only saving grace this year. Guy came in and went point per game immediately. Everyone around him got better.

Extending Lindgren last offseason was absolutely stupid, but the team legitimately thought that as is, it was a cup contender. Dumb as rocks some of these execs.

The trouba stuff going public -- I would love to know how that worked. If ymut was Trouba going to the media, Drury should have waived him immediately

Lafreniere has the 2nd most EV points on this team after Panarin. He doesn’t get PP1… but people look at him as a scapegoat. He’s still just 23.
Sure, it’s rational to be pissed he’s not scoring MORE, doing MORE, but he’s down the list of reasons this team is missing the playoffs this year, and he and Fox are the only prominent players I can see actually not being on the downswing…

The wild thing is that even as disappointing as this season has been with Lafreniere, he's still our 2nd best scorer at 5v5 this year. Top 50 in scoring at 5v5 even with all the droughts. Where are our other "star" F's if they can't even beat out Lafreniere?

Laf is a good offensive player and that’s not allowed around here

The fact Drury and torts didn't get along and the issues between the room and Drury might actually play towards why he is considering it bc he knows first hand what torts would do to the divas in that room. Everyday at training camp Mika would be forced to eat a porterhouse...

Drury will ALWAYS choose the American born over anything else . Our team probably has the least amount of Canuck influence in all of hockey...it does keep the shelves bare of hardware .

I understand that some people are unable to differentiate expectations due to draft position and actual performance as a 23 year old NHLer, but I'm not one of them.

If you want to have a conversation about how "underwhelming" he is as a 1OA, I suspect we are on the same side. If you want to say "we should trade him for a bag of pucks", a comment I saw on here TODAY from someone else, we won't be.
