Speculation: Roster Building thread: Part XIX (Thanks, Sam)

For me this season has been a f***ing disaster and I just want it over with.

My younger brother who was a Rangers fan died last month and though we didn't talk that often.....he was living out in Washington state......when we did we usually talked a bit about the Rangers. So I'm heading out later this month for his funeral service and the rest of me is like f*** this shit.....let the spring come and tune out sports for a while. I don't really care which team wins as long as it ain't another metro area team.
Sorry for your loss. I lost my big bro in 2019. Life hasn't been the same since. :(

So sorry. I lost a brother a few years back. We were both fans going back to 92/93 (lucky punks).

It definitely makes watching piss poor play feel worse. I've said a few times this season that he's spinning in his urn watching this! <3

Same here, and same year. I'm guessing similar ages based on username. =)

We shared watching a Cup win and playing FFIII within like one crazy formative year!

It's so tough. It'll never be the same. It will get easier over time, but never actually get "easy."

Anyway, sorry to get depressing.

These Rangers sure are depressing, huh? Every shot against is a goal. This is lunacy.

Housley just has to go. There is a long list of viable pariahs, but he's at the top.

Every player/staff that wants to "ask out" this summer is encouraged to do so. Regardless of age, tenure, or NTC status.

There is too much talent on this roster for this to be the result. Something's rotten. Everyone (including all of us as fans, funny enough) is simply "checked out" for all sorts of combinations of different reasons.

Hockey's different here.

Vice's Dark Side of the Ring s6 premiere is about Hell in a Cell.
I skipped that and went right to that lunatic Ludvig Borga.

I'm so sick of Hell in a Cell 98 and the Montreal Screwjob. We get it. We've seen many documentaries on each.

In general I really can't watch a majority of WWF after Wrestlemania 14 (except Wrestlemania 18), the matches were so bad and they kept repeating catchphrases and poses al the time.

I was gone by the Cena and Orton years.

The Ludvig Borga episode was good. I went back and rewatched the Road Warriors episode. Can you believe it's 6 seasons and 50+ episodes already?

Vasi faced a lot of quality shots and alotnin general and let in 1 goal. Shesterkin 22 shots and 4 goals. He can’t make saves why everyone defends this 12,5 million dollar cap tragedy for the next 8 years is beyond me. He is getting worse as the years go on. He will never be a top 15 goalie in the league except his one season. He loses us games not wins us games.

Reunite him with Gorton and Rammer in MTL. Make those fans have to cheer for him after booing him endlessly for the last 11 years.
That is some DARK humor. I was pondering CK for Evander Kane who has an expiring contract just in time for McDavid's UFA summer. Maybe not the best idea but also maybe bring some bad-boy swagger back on the ice? We need to excise our indifferent players ASAP. Someone in the GDT was saying how sick they were seeing Fox sigh all the time. Another approach is getting this team a new psychologist/mental coach. I've read stories about how the Golden State Warriors got a lot of mental focus training from Tony Robbins who is a minor owner of that team. Players have mentioned him by name in press conferences. I believe there is such a thing as a championship mentality. Here's a short blurb he did with USA Today. His description of elite athletes sounds nothing like any of the players we have on our roster.

Everyone who advocated abandoning the rebuild to supplement a team that everyone knew wasn’t good enough, is getting exactly what they deserve.
The rebuild was going to fail because the rangers missed on so many picks. So we would have ended up in a similar position either way. But the problem is now we are stuck with so many bad contracts it’s going to be hard to rebuild appropriately again.

They should of just moved the contract at the deadline even if the return was meh
there were apparently no takers due to him actually being injured
peeps including ny post gotta bend buckle and break to that reality stop spinning bs

either we keep him ltir and hope he heals,
or
we pay to move him which is unacceptable
we need to put assets into developing young core, not paying to deal a guy we can ltir, setting aside any other aspect of this

I could defend him being a top 3 or 5 paid Goalie. That's only a couple mill difference. It's $11.5 (not $12.5, tbf), and if he took $10.5 instead it would be more defensible. At $9.5 it would be arguably pretty darn good. If we had him at Sorokin's deal, we would have to be ecstatic.

He was unreal in the season that wasn't real, then a top 15 Goalie in his true rookie year. Then a Vezina winner. Then a top 5 Goalie twice. And then a horrible season by the entire organization this year. Feel free to say that he doesn't deserve a record contract, but he has been a top 5 for the majority of his career.

Him making one or two mill more than we would like on the cap won't be the problem for at least a few years, imo.

I'm more disgusted by the product in front of him.

I have a question -- when was it that we actually did "rebuild appropriately"?

This is actually a decent opportunity to do it. This team will have next to no expectations next season. We're all disgusted after how these 77 games have gone, so I'd say the fan base is ready for a big change.

We talk about the contracts, but I feel like there are still ways forward. Mika had success on the wing, I think a team that is close may go for it. Teams will have more space this summer than the last half decade and may not want to give an inflated deal to an UFA.

I really think Panarin asks out. He's frustrated. Is he part of the issue? I'd say yes, he can't drive a line anymore. This is a move that would be the kickstart because whoever gets him won't ask him to do that.

You still need veterans and nobody else will get a worthwhile return, so keep them. In these moves they need to identify a young center with high end talent that could even be their #2C next season.

All I'll say is this, if any of these guys are legit in not wanting to lose Trouba and Goodrow, you better not see Anaheim or San Jose on their no trade lists.
