That is a possibility....Drury could decide that next year's first is more valuable.I have no problem trading it for a Tkachuk or Power.... but he made it seem like we're just handing it over to Pittsburgh
If we get 1st overall, are we keeping it?I don't agree that he's keeping this year's pick.....no I have no facts or anything to base it on.....as I stated to another poster, it's just a gut feeling that I have.
I don't know.......logically we should....then again, NO ONE has every accused Drury of being logical. If we get 1st overall, are we keeping it?
Come on, man. You know the answer. No GM is that stupid. If we get 1st overall, we are 100% keeping it.I don't know.......logically we should....then again, NO ONE has every accused Drury of being logical.
You overestimate the intelligence of NHL GMs.Come on, man. You know the answer. No GM is that stupid. If we get 1st overall, we are 100% keeping it.
The 4th overall pick, in theory, is less valuable, but we only have to go back to 2020 to find a 4th overall player who has turned out better (thus far) than the 1st overall player.
Even if there is a drop off, it's not significant enough to give up the pick. The odds that we will get a better player next year are remote.
There may be a spot between 1 and 13 in which Drury would give up the pick, but it's not 4. He bargained for a top 13 protection for a reason.
No, you're just being obtuse. No GM has ever intentionally done what you are suggesting. You overestimate the intelligence of NHL GMs.
We need to notify Pitt 48 hrs prior to the draft this year if we are keeping or surrendering our 1st Rd pick. Top 13 protected. The top of the draft is strong but the depth is considered weak. Clear top 4, then a clear drop. Then another maybe 6-8 with another clear drop. This draft becomes a total crapshoot after that. IMO we should send this pick to Pitt if it’s not top 11.
Think you meant ‘26 first. I agree that is a possibility. I also think next year you can get a similar player at 20-25 as you can this year at 10-15. And I’m not convinced this team is a top 10 team next year unless Drury can make some pretty dramatic trades this summer. I’d rather take my chance next year. If somehow we are a lottery team again next year not giving up this years pick is a disaster. I think we cut our losses this draft personally. The thing about that though is if next year this team is playoff bound or on the cusp of being a playoff team it's pretty likely we'll trade that 2025 1st rounder for some veteran help before the deadline and it might be for a rental.
No, we're trading it for Bedard..If we get 1st overall, are we keeping it?
You're intentionally out on a limb here, but it makes entirely no sense. We're not giving away a top 5 pick just because you have a feeling. Maybe we trade it, but we're not handing it to Pittsburgh just because next year might be worse. You overestimate the intelligence of NHL GMs.
As I said above, I'm not making a statement of fact or trying to prove a point; nor did I do any research. I merely stated an opinion based on a gut feeling. It's not like GMs haven't done stupid things (have we forgotten that guy in Montreal?).
I'm not attempting to make sense and I'm not saying it's going to happen and I have no backup facts to prove or disprove anything. All I'm saying is that it's a feeling I have nothing more. You're intentionally out on a limb here, but it makes entirely no sense. We're not giving away a top 5 pick just because you have a feeling. Maybe we trade it, but we're not handing it to Pittsburgh just because next year might be worse.
Not in the least....you're reacting as if I'm stating facts....I'm not.No, you're just being obtuse. No GM has ever intentionally done what you are suggesting.
Look at his play after Jan 1.Craziest thing I’ve seen on here in a while: people trying to place Zibanejad and his 23 5v5 points into the “good but overpaid” category
No, I'm suggesting you are stating an opinion that has no basis in reality. Not in the least....you're reacting as if I'm stating facts....I'm not.
Boo Nieves has a better chance of being a 1C than Drury giving up the 1st overall pick.
This is EXACTLY what I've said from the start -- If you look at my posts, I have stated from the beginning that it was not a fact but just a gut feeling and that I had no basis for it.No, I'm suggesting you are stating an opinion that has no basis in reality.
Don't rile up you know who.No, I'm suggesting you are stating an opinion that has no basis in reality.
You're welcome to hold that opinion, just as the rest of us are welcome to call you crazy for espousing that opinion.

Better than getting cast down with the Sodomites!!!
