Speculation: Roster Building thread: Part XIX (Thanks, Sam)

What is this coach's fascination with flipping wings to their non-natural side? GP is a RW and he's made the LW for his first pro game. This is like the prerequisite to development failure.
He's spent the last 2 years mainly playing LW for NCAA.

What do you mean by this? 2/3 ECFs by a bad team? Or just that they've been bad this year? And people may not like the moves that were made but management absolutely did try to make moves to correct the issues. They turned over half the roster in-season. Just look at the opening night lineup compared to now.
Just what I said ..... this has been a flawed team for a number of years (they made first ECF on the back of Shesty..) and management did not try and correct those flaws. Of course, management hindered itself giving out albatross contracts with full NMC clauses so they couldn't make significant changed until this season -- which happened to coincide with the bottom finally falling out.

I haven't watched the past few games, so I do not know if it's been tried but how is Schneider still not getting a look with Fox?

EF believes Gavrikov and Bennett will stay with their teams. The Chychrun numbers are the new reality. The new cap projections changed everything. The Caps didn't see themselves giving Chychrun $72M. The new Canadian TV contract will only see the cap go up more. Boeser has a number and the Canucks are below that number.

I'm fully expecting that Gabe's offensive ability and creation of offense is going to be embarrassing for laffy. People were concerned about Gabe's skating and I actually think laffy will struggle to keep up with Gabe's pace of play. This should be interesting if those two are flanking Miller.

I look at that forward group, with the addition of Edstrom and Rempe on the 4th line and the improvement that is likely coming on defense on the off-season, and I think, that's easily a playoff team next year. Even if you remove Kreider and Panarin and allocate their cap space elsewhere
I don’t know. Swapping Bread and Kreider for Edstrom and Rempe, and expecting Drury to suddenly recognize what a NHL defenseman looks like doesn’t scream playoffs to me. Kreider won’t get you much. Panarin will need 50% retained if you can trade him. What small amount of cap space left over will hopefully be allotted to D. Montreal, Columbus, Philly and Detroit are all knocking on the door.

Well boy f***in howdy, if 9 for Chychrun is the new reality, then it sure would be smart if somebody took a much better player -say, I don't know, an average Norris finish of about 4, just spitballing here- and locked that player up at 9.5.

Let me paint a picture for you: the guy I'm thinking of, hypothetically, is scoring more points in his worst year than Chychrun is in his best year, and you got them for effectively the same price.

Don't you think that would be just great? Somebody should do that.
