Agreed, but I think you have it backwards on Trocheck's clauses. Pretty sure its an NMC NOW becoming a M-NTC July 1st.
Clause Details: 2025-26 – 12 team No Trade List; 2026-27 – 10 team No Trade List; 2027-28 and 2028-29 – 6 team No Trade List

Puckpedia has the same details

Is there anyone on this team that is untouchable?

I honestly don't think there is.

Cuylle? Maybe? Chytil as our only skilled center? Maybe?
Fox as our least bad dman?

After that... I dunno.

If I had to buy a jersey today with a current roster player, I don't know if I could.

And that's really sad. Even during the late 90's and 00's there was always SOMEONE that I thought was either good, or the future.

Today? Not so much.

Ugh... I'm f***ing depressed.
I’d build around Cullye berard perreault fox. I love chytil’s game but he’s a hit away.

I haven’t found it this hard to give a shit about this team in as long as I can remember. What a sad state of affairs. Just disappointment at every level - Drury for not having any idea of how to manage the human beings on his team, the players for not being able to muster a care for their own sake, their teammates’ sake, the fans’ sake because they’re pissy at the GM, the coaches for not being able to set the players straight and making dumb decisions like scratching Kakko when he’s playing the he best he has and so many other guys are awful.

Just really sad stuff all around. Hard to care.

I'm saying the team won a lot of games and scored a lot of goals. The won the freaking President's Trophy. It boggles my mind how so many guys can go so bad at the same time less than 6 months later. This isn't aging or diminishing skills.
It means they weren't as good as they looked: numerous players had career years that they will not match again (Trochek for one).

I think he missed a hyphen... but he's talking about Kakko right? :sarcasm:

If we are trading kreider to buffalo, we need to get back owen power. We need a Top 4 defensemen. Samuelsson is not the guy to target. And we dont need Rosen. I want quality over quantity.

Wtf is everyones obsession with greenway. Isnt he a uFA anyway? Like we can just sign him in the offseason if we want. He isnt that good to begin with. Like if they want to throw him in fine, but he isnt not the centerpiece or a valuable piece at all
Yes, a former 1OA for CK is way too much overpay, that would be exception to the rule. Not gonna happen.
Howev, can see Power to NY for the correct fit for Sabes

Greenway is ok for a cheap add, he is not worth paying for.

Here's what I think.
Drury is going nowhere. Dolan wants him. Get used to it.

Drury is not LOOKING to move Kakko. Kakko isn't going anywhere unless someone offers at LEAST fair value. Don't see that happening. If Kakko expresses a desire to leave, after the season, then by all means get what we can for him.

Lavi gone in the New Year if team continues like this. If he goes, or stays but utilizes Kakko better, I don't see Kakko wanting to leave.

Same for Kreider, who I have ALWAYS maintained should retire a Ranger: gone unless he and things improve. 3 5v5 points, looks like he is making no effort, showing zero passion. IF it is his back or another injury, f***ing sit for fuxsakes. Go on long term injured reserve and heal up. Otherwise I think he's gone at the TDL, the latest.

I don't see Zibs turning this around. He appears, like Kreids, to have zero passion, and very little effort to his game. Obviously he can't go anywhere if he doesn't want to. Based on his play he should be getting 3rd or 4th line minutes and PK. That's it. And that's what the coach should do. If it makes him want to waive his NMC, all the better, but either way, that's all he currently deserves. ... Maybe the young guys should start running him in practice. Maybe he will want to waive his clause, or wake up. (I'm being facetious here.)

I don't see the young core, and that includes Kakko, going anywhere, but of course if a deal that makes the team better presents itself, you've got to do it.
End of my rant.

I think his talent is underrated, but fair assessment.

Yup. Being properly utilized.
general strong agree except on da bold

Build to the strength of your roster. if we're so devoid of talent, there needs to be a commitment to defense. You can't have neither. That's how you go 3-12. Igor, Laf, Fox are here for the long haul, but they are being dragged down by circumstances.

Igor is a top goalie in the league by every metric. His contract is fair market value. He's staying, and hes not an albatross in this NHL economic climate. they need 2 minute eating, crease clearing defenseman to make his life easier. Nobody likes those players, but they are a necessary evil. Mikkola was a perfect fit and of course we let him walk in favor of Fox' buddy Lindgren, which leads me to my next point.

Fox is a Norris trophy defenseman but wear and tear is limiting him. Playing him with Lindgren has only led to more time Fox plays in the Dzone and more injuries. One of the defenseman they acquire in the coming weeks needs to be a guy capable of taking the strain off of Fox. A steady defensive guy who can skate back and retrieve the puck in his zone.

Lafreniere has a ton of talent but he needs to be put in better situations. Kreider should not be getting valuable PP minutes. We just gave Laf a 7 year deal. Kreider is old news. What are we doing here? I would also keep Laf away from Panarin the rest of this year. Let him work on his own line, at left wing, with Cuylle and Chytil. Thats a solid second line on any team.

Maximize the talent of your actual core players, and not guys in their mid-30s who will be gone in 6 months.
Kreider's established specialty on tip ins says the bold is wrong.
Howev, what should happen is Zib should sit and not ruin PP mins, let our 2nd + 3rd lines be fresh sharing PP, w/CK joining them.

Probably an unpopular take : I’d try to trade Laf. The talent and tools are there no doubt but I just don’t think he’ll ever be consistent enough to reach his ceiling. The return would have to be very good obviously.
Like everyone, if the return is too much, then yes. But now that he has learned he can skate, and is continuing to improve and has further upside, as a rule no, exceptions notwithstanding

You are correct. Trade kreider now, Trocheck later.
wrong, imo
vice versa

It's not too dumb, it would be god awful business. Think they might have a crap reputation now? Imagine how players on other teams will view the Rangers as a potential future landing spot if they move 1 or 2 players they just re-signed during the season.
And you know what? It's business.

Vegas does this... Tampa does this.

At the end of the day, money is green and NY is a fun place to live as a millionaire in your 20's/30's.

Free agents will never be hard to sign.

We're not Buffalo. Our main asset is not loyalty... it's being in NYC. We need to use that to our advantage.

One thing that has not been mentioned at all by the media covering how mean Drury is is whether or not Goodrow and Trouba were playing anywhere close to the level their salary would dictate on the market. It may not have been possible, but the principle thing that could've prevented them being moved was playing better. And neither did, nor could they.

I understand Trouba was pissed about being 'threatened' to be waived, but from my point of view, he was an AHL level player for us this year and it was frankly a courtesy of Drury not to just waive him like any other Connor Mackey or Chad Ruhwedel (Sp?) and instead offer to work with him to move him somewhere he might prefer.

At this point, I'm just waiting for the next shoe to drop.

So is the team. Their play has told drury more trades are needed. Chris mustve turned the ringer off his phone because were about to go into a 10 day roster freeze with about 5 lame ducks.

I'm asking because I honestly don't know. Have either of those 2 teams, in recent history, traded a player in the summer when the contract was signed less then 6 months or so prior?
