Because the waive was done purposely to be claimed by teams he won't waive his clause for. This wasn't to send Goodrow to the minors if nobody claimed him, they weren't going to eat 1million while spending another million on a call-up worse than Goodrow. When big contracts/bad contracts are on waivers, they typically pass because nobody wants them and then they stay on the NHL roster, they aren't used to facilitate a movement around one blocked by the player. From all reports, Goodrow was even willing to play fair, and Drury pulled this last minute on him. If you really think about it, what good is having a M-NTC if a team can just put you on waivers for a team on that list to claim you? You may as well just get rid of it and only allow NMC. It's 100% shady. Drury using what was available to him doesn't make it not shady.
Have we ever stopped to think about how ridiculous it is for a guy like Goodrow to get a NTC? Bottom 6 guys shouldn't be getting those contracts no matter how many rings are on his finger.

Coleman Goodrow and Gourde all cashed out and have shown zilch since.

If I were Kakko I'd ask for a trade. Benched for bums.

The shame of it is, Kakko probably really cares about being a Ranger. We drafted him and made him a second class citizen at the expense of the veterans since before minute 1. He's not ultimately a very good player, but it is some bullshit. I love his comments 'it's easy to blame the young guys". Shots fired.

I think I like this?

I'm onboard if they can sign him to an extension. Kakko is a bust and will never reach anywhere near his 2nd overall pick expectations. Is KK an NHL'er, yes, will he be an impactful one.....no. You can get guys like him anywhere, anytime moving forward. At least Jordan Greenway could provide some snarl with putting up almost the same points as KK.

Coleman hasn’t had less than 31 points, in 55 games, since going to CGY and had 54 points last season. Gourde put up two 48 point seasons. We just got the shitty one out of the three. Of course.

He was stapled to the Top Six & PP1 in the start of his rookie season, he played himself off of it.

Goodrow is on year 4 of a 6 year deal.
The deal was heavily front loaded and was designed to be moved.
players and agents are 100% aware of how structuring a deal makes it easier or harder to move.
They’re also aware of the difference between no trade and no move.

and before anyone forgets Goodrow agent leaked that teams were offering very specific numbers after the rangers made that trade for his rights.
Goodrow got his, and now wants to whine?

Goodrow was brought in to teach the kids how to win. Job concluded. What was he left to do on the roster? He wasn’t positively contributing on the ice.
Apparently winning 2 SC vs 2 trios to ECF is the difference in what acceptable or not acceptable ways to reshape a roster
