I'm not sure I can explain this any clearer...

you offer NO indication as to why it is "reasonable" to speculate that Zib waives his NMC. None. Drury doesn't have the same threats for Zib as he did for Goodrow and Trouba.
If Zib not playing every single night, that is a bad look even if he is getting a paycheck.
That is not enuf to make him go just anywhere, but VAN =
a) cup contender
b) his fellow Swede EPetterssen is there so he'c comfy
c) w/EP and JTM, no urgency/pressure to bust a gut and be the #1 star guy
Those are all solid reasons for zib to waive
Drury needs only instruct he not play til he caves.
PERIOD

Drury was able to waive Goodrow and threaten to waive Trouba because it wouldn't have been a violation of the contracts. If Drury went to Zib and told him he would never play again unless he waived his NMC, the players association would be involved in a nano-second, they would be right to get involved, and they would win whatever complaint they lodged. These are real life contracts. There are rules.

You also completely ignore the fact that such a move would require the Rangers to retain almost 5 million dollars a year for FIVE years. That will never happen.
I am not ignoring that, I have been open about it.
There is no magic way to undo what has been done.
Either you cut the zib cancer out NOW, and eat 4.25 per [not almost 5] or you continue to swallow 8.5
half a good loaf is better than none,
but half a bad loaf is better than a full bad loaf
THAT IS BASIC MATH
To be rid of Zib is worth it
There is zero chance this guy can be rehabilitated quickly enuf for him to have some trade partner risk anything good to get him, and that is assuming he can even be rehabbed at all.
Now sure, you can see if a place like Nash will basically do him for Stamkos, assuming Mika waives. But stammer is beyond cooked.
That only swaps out headaches, possibly one w/a less restrictive contract, possibly.
IT IS NOT A SOLUTION

Again, the above is irrelevant because your strategy to get around Mika's NMC isn't legal, but again, you are focused on what you want to do with someone else's money. Can you even remember a trade where the Rangers retained money at all, to say nothing of that much money for half a decade? The Rangers RARELY retain on a contract. It isn't going to happen, particularly when Zibanejad is objectively still among the top 4 centers on the team and there is no clear way to replace him.

You ALSO ignore that such a move leaves an already organizationally-thin position (center) even thinner with no means (financial or otherwise) to bring in someone new.
Wrong Raty is a pivot. He can handle 3C now and maybe has 2C upside.
For now, Chytil + Tro can do top 2. Also KK can possibly do 2C, pushing Tro up if chytil is out
and we got useful short term D, which saves opportunity cost of putting their salaries into pivots
and we recover 4.25 which can be put to good use. Hence "even thinner with no means... etc." is entirely wrong.

Raty has 7 career points, is currently in the minors, and would be on his third NHL team if here. He's who you see as the next 2C? Kakko was played at C for a game or two, and then healthy scratched. He's your solution? Chytil, though he's a favorite of mine, is a mosquito fart away from a lengthy stint on IR. Nice player, but not one you plan on for the long term.

Just for lols, which top six center do you see signing in NY this summer for $4.25 million? And that's assuming they don't want to upgrade the defense at all.

Zibanejad is here for at least another two seasons, whether you or I like it or not.
I don't like it and it won't be the first time Rs mgmt did not listen to me and hindsight will later show it was their mistake.
Either way I will not be silent.
If you have any objective basis to dispute what I said, fine.
But I have refuted you above.
I am correct on this and Rs will listen to me or regret it, as surely as they are now regretting not listening to me about full nmcs.

Kreider I'm not gonna rehash
Jettison the others first, see what we have then

Bern, you refuted nothing. You repeated pipe dream ideas that are not based in reality.

Vancouver isn't trading for Zibanejad.

It doesn't matter because the Rangers are never retaining even a fraction of that amount.

It super doesn't matter because Drury isn't daft enough to try to illegally force Zibanejad into waiving his NMC.

And Kreider's place on this team has clearly been overtaken by Cuylle, Laf, and co.

If my boss threatens to get rid of me and my besties I’m gonna try and get them fired too. Pity about the method
If you deserved to be fired I'd be on your boss' side. If you didn't, you'd show some pride & do your job to your maximum capability & he probably wouldn't be on your case.

Players need to put their objective thinking hats on.

1. Going into the summer, how were the Rangers going to fit all their current obligations under the cap? Answer: Move salary with taking little to nothing back. See Barclay Goodrow.

2. How were the Rangers going to improve over the summer after making it to the ECF 2 out of the last 3 years when completely up against the cap? Answer: Trade a high dollar contract that can actually be moved (e.g. no full NMC/NTC). See Jacob Trouba (Nixed any possible trade this summer)

3. How are you going to improve the roster during the season while the team is in a slump while giving flexibility to extend the best goalie in the NHL? Answer: Move an under performing big money player that can be traded with little to nothing money coming back. See successful Jacob Trouba deal.

LOL @ imagining a powwow of butt hurt millionaires taking turns crying to each other about how mean Chris Drury is. That would be the dumbest meeting ever. The absolute hilarious part about this report was "the players are wondering how to get this message to Dolan". Get the eff out of here Steve Dangle, sounds like a damn porn star

I don’t believe that the Steve Dangle report is true, but even if it were I can’t see James Dolan not standing by his man.
History has shown that with Dolan a President or a GM of the Rangers has to commit an egregious act against Dolan in order to get himself himself fired.
Look how long we suffered under Sather.
If the players are committing a mutiny against Drury, my opinion, they will lose and lose badly.
It been well published that they are treated way better than players in other organizations. That could easily stop.
I don’t believe Dangle’s sources.

I don’t think Dangle would make up a players only meeting and it’s not a far stretch to imagine the vets hate Drury. It’s wild, Drury was confrontational and controversial in his role with the Wolfpack and now he’s rubbing the NHL counter part the wrong way. Like, I totally believe that he is a ruthless, calculated dbag who doesn’t give a damn about players feelings and I get why the spoiled vets wouldn’t respond well to it, but that is exactly the wake up call the country club needs.

I just can’t believe that these guys are intentionally throwing. There is just no way. They suck. Maybe they are using Drury as a fallback excuse, but they deserve to be dragged. It’s unreal how unlikable they are.

My only hope is that if they are throwing, the younger, hungrier, Laffy led core isn’t a part of this pathetic display. I do think the younger guys care which kind of makes me hate the veteran core even more.

Bleghhh, weird time to be a Ranger fan.

Are they f***ing brain dead?

"Yeah we'll show Drury. Let's all sulk and play really bad and it'll somehow get him canned and not all of us... that'll show him"

They're proving exactly why they need to cut ties. If they had any sort of balls they'd nut the f*** up and prove to the organization why they should be kept. Somehow sulking and half assing it is going to keep you around? f*** these mutts. And I don't even care if this Dangle thing is true. We all see what's going on, we all know regardless. The vets are being f***ing cry babies that their pals were being moved. And this is going back to Drury moving Buch as well. It was a shit decision, but this is also a business. Nut up. You have Igor going to the press saying he's the most important player on the team and that he should be paid more than the rest of them. Nice teammate, that's what you want to hear.

How was this team going to put together a competitive roster with Tuba here eating 8 million? How were we going to afford Goodrow making +3.5M to play on the 4th line? There would've been no money for the rest of the guys. The quicker we cut ties with these losers the better. Complete loser mentality. Let the young hungry guys play. The kids are showing up. Panarin is showing up. Vinny is coming around. It doesnt have to be this way... the losers are proving why they shouldn't be here.

They’re unionized millionaires. If they think Drury actually crossed a line there’s a process through which they can grieve it. This just messes with the fans really. And maybe even cynically co-opts “quiet quitting” which is something poor people without bargaining power do to survive in an economic system that is designed to exploit them.

But Drury also sucks. He and the players kind of deserve each other imo at this point. Just stinks for the fans.

I answered your ?s and I will not repeat doing so until you get the facts right.

You said:
"If Drury went to Zib and told him he would never play again unless he waived his NMC, the players association would be involved in a nano-second, they would be right to get involved, and they would win whatever complaint they lodged."
THAT is TRUE.
BUT that is not the official line
The official line is, since you are playing so piss poor, we cannot give you mins.
Show up for practice, and if, in coach's judgment, you are a better option, you can play; otherwise, you sit.
NHLPA may not like that loophole, BUT THAT IS LEGAL

so yr pt I did not present an effective reason is wrong

Again, ditching zib is addition by subtraction
half a bad loaf is better than a full bad loaf
ADMIT that is true

The rest of this, you want immediate gratification, instant answers
That is usually not an option
Life is usually complicated, not simple.
It will take more than 1 move
this IS the first step

pls give up the false notion zib is worth trying to keep
he is not

This is a great summary. The players have no actionable grievances so "lets just f*** our loyal fanbase"...f*** these guys, trade anyone with this attitude.

Imagine the last part: The players are trying to figure out how to tell Dolan. f*** off honestly.

I get it, Dolan is probably not easily accessible, but at the same time, he's actually the boss. You're telling me Kreider couldn't talk to him? Ffs, any of them can tell Lundqvist and it'll be passed along. He goes to games too (they don't show him on TV).

That's such a BS story/rumor. Clickbait beyond belief.

What has Chris Drury done?

- Taken away no perks (we'd hear about that),
- Gave Goodrow a ridiculous contract and waived him after a 4 goal season
- gave Mika a ridiculous buyout proof contract
- Took care of Igor with another buyout proof contract
- Added as much as he could at every trade deadline
- Gave them a players coach after Quinn was uhh I dunno asking them to forecheck once in a while
- Gave them a detail oriented coach when the players coach was too lax
- Set it up so none of them had competition this training camp for their jobs

I fail to see what, exactly, could possibly be so upsetting after they played like they were quitting on the West Coast swing. Is their direct deposit late???

Steve Dangle having this closed door meeting news while none of the beat writers or actual insiders do doesn’t pass the sniff test.

Ruthless seemed to workout well for Vegas.
Players are payed well to play well. If this does turn out to be true I hope it leaks back to them that the hockey world thinks of them as a bunch of crying divas.

Tro basically said there was.

Since it’s all unsubstantiated at this point, these are just musings, but I wonder if there is a rift forming in the room between guys saying/feeling what Trochek expresses here and guys who think they can/want to mope and try to get Drury fired.

I bet we could guess who is who pretty accurately as well.
