Also I think Drury is Dolans guy. He'll probably be here for the foreseeable future.I don't think they're going to fire Drury. I think the notion is that he didn't make the mess, so he'll get a chance to clean it up.

Kreider -
I did explain in overview, you simply do not accept my answers.
That he has only 1G in last 13 or whatev games is consistent w/my appraisal that the rest of the team is dragging him down, not the other way around.

That's some half truth Bullnevich.
Kakko is underwhelming, not terrible. If you’re trading a 23 year old who is close to being on pace for .5ppg for a 31 year old who can barely stay in the lineup on a bad team, that’s a fireable offense.
Well gotta disagree there. Out of that letter NYR got Chytil. Cuylle, Schneider, Jones. Edstrom, & Berard. While you might not be impressed by all of them and all aren't top players, they're contributing and Berard & Edstrom is still carving his way. Plus they made the Barron pick even tho Dru moved on.I see both sides of it. Drury has doubled down on some stupid shit and if he doesn't agree with how the vets are treated, at best, he's let it happen.
At the same time, it's impossible to view his tenure without viewing it through the lens of the shitshow that came before him.
Really, all that came of the letter-era picks and moves is Lafreniere, and literally a first grader would have known enough to make that pick.
And yet somehow he’s really good in transition defense and his line typically does well in controlling the puck on offense. He doesn’t skate well enough to be impactful
I can also - I think criticism of Drury is fair. This is a tough league. He's brought in multiple coaches who haven't worked out, which is at least partly on him. He deserves some accountability. The degree to which this group of vets is just plain toxic is also stunning to me, and he didn't bring all of them in. That said - he did extend Mika. So long story short, totally agree. Plenty of blame on him and plenty of blame on the regime before he came in.I see both sides of it. Ok, like I said underwhelming... But trading a contributor who is on pace for 40 points for a guy who is at best a 6 d, struggling to stay in the lineup on Buffalo making over 3 mil for next season is just giving up something of value for a player that could probably be had for the rights to Karl HenriksonHe doesn’t skate well enough to be impactful
You can't launch a rebuild on a group of players whose best piece is Will Cuylle.Well gotta disagree there. Out of that letter NYR got Chytil. Cuylle, Schneider, Jones. Edstrom, & Berard. He was handed a bad situation, but he continued to try and augment it instead of aggressively pursuing changes. Now it's apparent that he has to make changes and the team is older, more expensive, and less valuable.I can also - I think criticism of Drury is fair. This is a tough league. Dolan called Drury his Brian Cashman so he is staying. My big concern is what are the expectations for this year? Does Drury think he can pull off a St Louis? Worst to First? I hope not!!! WE need to remove core and maximize return.
Trade Bait Level 1..Kaako,Lindgren,Kreider,Smith,Vesey,Carrick
Trade Bait Level 2..Miller,Fox,Igor.
Trade Bait Off Season...Mika, Bread
Trading Level 1 adds lots of cap space...then need to decide how to spend it
Agree on all fronts except on Kakko who I still think will be a valuable player in this league. I get the frustration but I think he'll go on to have a nice career. I also expect him to get dealt any time now.You can't launch a rebuild on a group of players whose best piece is Will Cuylle.
They signed their top wing, they got their top D by accident, and they never got a top center. It was a failed rebuild.

Just to name one example, they should have pulled the trigger on moving Kakko for a legit piece. They sat on their hands and Kakko's value has only gone down.

From a league-wide optics POV, if Drury and/or the coaching staff is let go, you can pretty much rest assured that the players have won and that all but the most desperate clubs will not touch these players with a 10 foot pole.

The 31 year old is 4th in points on the team. Mika is terrible as is the rest of the team but I will wager you alot of cash that he will end the year with 70+ points.
100% agree, I'm not saying KK is untouchable, or that he has a future on this team. I'm just saying that if it's for a guy like Clifton that's a bad deal.Dont get bogged down in the details. The Rangers should trade Kakko if they arent going to use him in the top 6, for a defenseman that can help stabilize that clusterf***.
