Vince with an actually interesting nugget that K'Andre has the same agent as Goodrow and they plan to "not do Drury any favors" in the summer for his new contract. Given the circumstances of the season, is that really something Miller wants out there? Tone deaf.

Im not really in the "trade the youth" camp but Im intrigued by what kind of defensive upgrade we can get in a Miller+Kakko package.
I would have no problem trading Miller, tired of watching him fumble pucks under pressure or his inability to keep plays alive in the offensive zone because he handles the puck like a child. Screw him and his agent.

Alright I’m back. Took me a while. But really I just haven’t been as excited for the team. Haven’t missed a game. Been screaming on Twitter. But my excitement going into the season with how drury failed this offseason really left a bad taste in my mouth and frankly it looks like the players are playing with the same apathy I have after the disappointment of losing last year when it really felt like our year.

I think they come out of this. They have too many good players.

Shesterkin is playing like shit. That is half the battle. He’s nuts thinking he deserves 12 million when he does this every season. You can’t get paid like that for playoffs alone. He has to be a difference maker. He can’t set the market this drastically when he goes into tailspins every year giving up 2 bad ones a game for two months every season and most of them being in the first few mins of games killing his team. We did this last year. When u chase the game because your goalie can’t make a save u are going to look terrible.

The second part is too many good players are playing terrible hockey. They didn’t collectively become washed. Trocheck Panarin Kreider Mika Miller Fox even Lafreniere all are playing lousy hockey right now. That’s nonsense. They’re too good for this. They are. They have to figure it out. Usually this should get a coach fired frankly.

Lindgren and trouba should be gone. I knew troubas drama would hurt this team. You cannot be that bad in the playoffs wearing a C and keep the respect of the room. Then have the offseason drama on top of it? No way. He should have been gone one way or another. And at the least been stripped of the letter. This is a major problem. Drury needs to deal with today or tomorrow. This is nuts. Lindgren. Lazy move should never have been brought back him coming back from injury of course coincided with us turning into a mess. He’s a terrible player. Has to go immediately. The sooner these two are gone the better we will be. They are a major part of the problem.

Laviolette if he’s going to stay needs to get this team to buy back into his system because right now they are not. He probably should be fired. I like him but he hasn’t held guys accountable, they look like they’ve quit on him too. That’s too bad but he wouldn’t be the first guy to get a quick exit and we wouldn’t be the first core to run thru a bunch of coaches in this league.
Glad to have you back Lord Helmet! And with a great post nonetheless.

At this point I would rather have Ruhwedel
Playing over lindgren.
I thought I had read or heard Gallant was coaching Canada at the Spengler Cup over Christmas . We should have a scout over there looking for a couple of guys that can skate and play some D....might find a nugget in the tournament that has been away long enough that might be enticed to come back for a year or two . Teams from Canada-Sweden-Finland-and Davos and the players are sometimes from other countries playing overseas for various reasons .

Totally agree. Hes the one younger guy I wouldnt mind going in a shakeup trade. Gotta get value back in the shape of a d or c that will be here awhile.

I'd like to point out that while the players look bad, they will still draw interest, and maybe even a deal is still possible. Teams don't solely focus on the fact that they're bad, but rather what's making them bad. Other GMs know they don't play with structure right now, and also send scouts to see what else is wrong right now that can be fixed. They also look at specific things that will help their players, i.e., skill sets that are complementary on their clubs.

There's a reason Kakko and Miller's names keep coming up? Drury said the Rangers are open for business and teams started calling about them. Not to mention both of their agents eother have an ax to grind (Miller) or have a client who has told everyone who will listen that he wants more icetime(Kakko). I dont think Drury is rushing to trade either but im sure he's listening.

How shocked will you all be to watch Dallas win the Cup with Kreider and Trouba on their roster?

Not very. We ask those 2 to be out best players. They wouldnt crack the top 5 on Dallas.

Not at all.

Kreider scores goals and he'd be what? The 5th or 6th best forward on that team?

Trouba would be their #6 most likely too, bumping out our old friend Nils.

Depth to the point where Kreider is closer to the back end of your middle six and Trouba as a 6-7 is not a bad way to live. The latter is an expensive option for that role but if you've got a coach who will commit to playing him in those limited minutes he can be useful. This isn't Lindgren who would find a way to completely f*** you with 10-12 min of TOI.

I still think that, as lame and unprovable as it is, simply existing in NYC plays a role in this team’s struggles. I have been saying this for years. It’s part of why Toronto can’t win either.

You are dealing with both distractions and just a generally great life as a wealthy athlete in a big city, while also typically facing the best that visiting team’s have to offer. There is still a tendency to discredit the mental aspects of pro sports, but am convinced that it’s much easier to get up for a game in December in Broadway than it is for one in Columbus or Newark. Big stage, world’s most famous arena, etc.

Toronto isn’t a cool city though.

I feel like Montreal would offer more .

But then again playing in Montreal has its own unique issues

Not shocked. Neither player is the single reason NYR are trash on the rink. Are they helping? No. Do they look bad? Yes. But we have a ton of problems from which players we have, the effort level, and the lack of structure. If Kreider is competing for a cup I will cheer him on and would love to see him get clutch playoff goals.

Good thing the Yankees played in Boise, Idaho for their entire existence.

You're 100% right. Teams see we're a shit show right now. It was reported earlier in the season that over half the league had interest in Tuba. A team like Dallas has essentially zero notable RHD. They had zero last year until they brought in Tanev at the deadline. He left for Toronto. After Bouchard, Edmonton has nothing on the right side. They have no cap space though. The Sabres and Predators are empty at RHD. There's teams that need another body in their top 4 on the right side. A mid-season trade for Tuba or Kreider at this point will be tricky. Most of the teams have maxed out their cap space. A number of teams that could be realistic targets will have plenty of room this summer though. We may have to wait until then, but it does seem there will plenty of interest

If that's true, Miller can GTFO. The last thing this team needs are a bunch of f***ing mercenaries. I've seen that movie already - the ending sucks. The beginning and middle are nothing to write home about either.
