You could say that but how de we know this isn’t the exact time to trade Kreider? Could make the argument his value will only decrease from here. Guy is having a really rough season, first really bad season of his career to be fair but he’s also getting to that age where it could fall off really quickly.

His contract also isnt hindering us. He can provide more value to us over the next 3 years as a special teams ace than Mavrik Bourque or Bischel would. We have our own young players we dont play enough, are trade acquisitions going to play over them all of a sudden?

They need a center, so yes, Bourque would be playing

That's where I'm at. This isn't 70 point Kreider this year. I'd rather get ahead of it before he really declines if this is the start. And frankly, if there isn't some major turnaround this team isn't doing anything with or without him right now anyway. Might as well get something in return

I'm no longer assuming Chytil will be playing much

And I am starting to come around on the fact that Zibanejad may be going the route of Seguin and Stamkos and may be better suited to RW

Thats a lot of ifs to trade our longest tenured player for an AHL center and a first rounder in the 20s. Firable offense if Drury makes a deal like that.

Vince with an actually interesting nugget that K'Andre has the same agent as Goodrow and they plan to "not do Drury any favors" in the summer for his new contract. Given the circumstances of the season, is that really something Miller wants out there? Tone deaf.

Im not really in the "trade the youth" camp but Im intrigued by what kind of defensive upgrade we can get in a Miller+Kakko package.

They're 'ifs' only because we're on a message board. These are things the team would need to discuss.

If Chytil is going to be out long term every time he takes a hit, they need to find a center ASAP.

Nowhere in Goodrow's contract did he stipulate in the negotiations that he couldn't be waived and claimed by another franchise. If he ewanted that, maybe he could have brought the paycheck down by 5%, 10%, whatever it was worth to get a NMC for him.

If not, shut the f*** up and stop complaining. The Rangers don't get any favors from Drury, Lundqvist when it came to earning their money. The team shouldn't be expected to have to p***y foot around players feelings when they squeeze you for ever dollar but don't bother prioritizing location stability.

Cry me a river Barclay, cry me a river K'Andre. See you in Skjei land.

The previous regime targeted him because we had an incredibly soft defense and no leadership. The contract wouldnt have been an albatross if not for Fauci's pandemic. They swung and missed on the player but the logic made sense. They werent going forward with Fox/DeAngelo/Pionk on the right side. It's all water under the bridge now. Time to rip the bandaid off.
failed attempt at revisionist history

He floated Jones, Lindgren, Miller, Kakko and Shesterkin as having drawn interest from teams, based on his conversations with sources and connecting the dots. Also said that Lavi and Drury have been having late-night conversations.
Other than Lindgren, all younger guys
of those, only Shesty should def be moved in sell high return

Trading Jones, Kakko or Miller would be stupid unless it's a hockey trade for a player of similar age/projection.

Yes let's hold on to the dopes that are mopping around like a bunch of babies.

general agree, but no coke for pepsi
I want it to be worth my while if we are giving up youth

Kreider is a 33 year old PP specialist with an iffy back. Adjust your expectations
NO
you adjust to reality
back is currently iffy, and adjustments nec going forward, but that does not mean w/treatment and care and attention the back will be an issue, barring injury

few scenarios worth dealing ck

1. wouldn't make that assumption
Chytil has put in the work and deserves every shot at continued play

2. bold = while we should still deal Zib yesterday, let me remind I had an open mind about this coupla yrs ago.
But of course, some had to be slavish rigid, unopen to creativity/experimentation

again, LISTEN TO BERN

Bennett as a ufa is most likely to not be the Bennett prior to UFA. Nyr should be wise of this and act with caution.
possibly. I do not know what he will command but 5-6 years 6.5-7ish may be doable. Still only 28 years old

he fits the exact prototype we need.

In my dream world we'd land him and B.Tkachuk while emptying out the soft core

Id be interested in Bennet as a Kreider replacement if things dont improve and we deal him.

I die a little inside, everytime I see Kreider Zibs Smith... it's hopeless

Smith needs to be gone and Berard in that spot whenever he's healthy enough to go.

Cuylle is the Kreider replacement imo

If Drury has the balls to make a big deal and land Tkachuk.... I know I'm in the minority but I'd easily give up Perreault+ for him

So would I. Does Miller+Kakko+Perrault get us Brady? Just spitballing.

Trade some of the mopes and get Bennett and brady in NY and we certainly wont have any killer instinct or intensity questions anymore.

Toy Drive is tonight at Javits. Laf, Kakko, and Zib scheduled to be there. anyone considering going?
Quick story. Back in 2008 when Marek Malik was the whipping boy, a buddy of mine was having drinks at Mustang Sally's/Harry's, one of those.

A couple of hours after a game ended, Marek walked into the bar to have a postgame drink. The bar was full of Rangers fans and he was recognized immediately. The fans started to boo him to his face/told him he sucks, etc until he pounded his beer and left after 10 minutes.

A few people should go and do this to Zibanejad.

That's a package you trade for Connor McDavid, not Brady freaking Tkachuk.

If Trouba and/or Lindgren are on the roster Friday, they will continue to get boatraced. The team has quit on each other trying to stick it to Drury. I get that it's Christmas time, but they need to deal with the Trouba situation before the season gets even more out of hand. I find it hard to believe no one wants him. Retain a million or so and deal him to a team thats not on his list. Its addition by subtraction.

Once he's gone, slap the C on Kreider whether he likes it or not. I appreciated his F-bombs in the locker room after the Devils game, as opposed to Trouba's walking dead impression. Its not enough but its something. They need someone to step up and be a leader right now and it's gotta be Chris. Time to up the intensity and killer instinct buddy. Now or never. The season is absolutely salvageable.

It’s not.

This story makes me sad. Malik was a very useful d-man
