Todays leak was a warning shot. I dont think this is a team culture that will respond to such a call out positively.

Drury didn't have to sign Lindgren. Walker was right there. Roy was right there. Chychrun was available. Trouba stuff aside, i think this is significantly on him.

Trade Kreider for an LHD. Would love someone young or at least with term. I'll give up the 1st too if it's the right guy. Kreids/1st is a pretty good package. Waive Lindgren.

Cuylle Kakko Lafreniere
Panarin Chytil Trocheck
Berard Zibanejad Smith
Edstrom Carrick Vesey/Brodz

Miller Fox
LHD Schneider
Jones Trouba

There are worse ideas. Wouldn’t be a kings ransom but a Marner for Shesty blockbuster would be a shake things up move for both teams. Both FAs, both considered Cornerstones, both teams need the position they’d be getting.
No no no no. If you move igor you do so at the deadline at 50% retained to maximize value. Itd be the biggest deadline haul in a VERY long time. You could probably get from the leafs

2026&2027 1st round pick
2025 2nd round pick
Easton Cowan
Fraser Minten

Kreider I’d trade to Boston for Trent Frederic and 2025 1st

Panarin I’d move at 50% retained for a kings ransom as well. And if that means waiting until TDL 2026, I’m fine with that too.

Teams needs to re-tool

I wonder about a quick retool also, a la the Flyers of 2011 when they traded both Mike Richards and Jeff Carter. Not to say that the Rangers would get value that Philly did, but Philly knocked it out of the park with the returns that they got.

Flyers made the semis in the season they traded those 2, and then only made the playoffs 4 more times in the 13 seasons since (and only made it to the 2nd round once).
Hopefully our retool, assuming it is actually coming, is a bit more successful than that

Why are people trading Kreider for Frederic? I'm super happy y'all aren't the gm. We don't need to be trading a 30-40 goal scorer for someone's bottom 6 checker. I know this team is in a rut but this is akin to the Buchnevich trade.

Kreider has term left and therefore for a team at the ceiling they need salary to offset the trade. That and frederic is a solid 3C.

What do you think is a realistic return for a 34 year old kreider with 2.5 years term left?

Frederic is a much better LW than C.

He's also much closer to his current 6 points in 22 games than last years 40 point aberration. Literally just a guy. You can do way better than him.

So whats a realistic return for kreider to a team not on his 15 team no trade?

Z, Kreider, Trouba, Lindgren and Smith is a really good start. You can rework a team real nice with those pieces to trade. Hope Drury makes the right decision. Start tomorrow. Haha

1st and a B prospect. Same as every other guy with limited term or control. Teams with playoff/cup hopes hate trading off their roster.

Sergachev got Moser (24) and Geekie (20) because he had 6 years of term left.

I could see Miller being moved because he likely has the most value of anyone they'd be willing to move and he could potentially bring back a difference maker, but if you trade him then you're probably keeping Lindgren and/or Trouba.

His contract isn't an issue, you can mark him down for 30+ goals a year and that might be hitting low. He's in a slump and maybe it's just being paired with two guys who aren't doing him any favour's. What does Kreider look like next to say Bedard? What does he look like next to Eichel? What about Dylan Larkin, I mean all three of those teams have their own reasons to want a guy like him. I'm not sure what the trade is, but it better be more than Frederic, he's a top line winger, has a unique powerplay skill set and is great on the pk. I think this forum is seriously under selling his value throughout the league, the boys on overdrive refused to believe he'd actually be available, they thought it was ridiculous

I wonder if a trade of Panarin would open up more offense from Zibanejad, especially on the PP. that might be a 4D chess move. Trade Panarin for a haul, let Zibanejad get more reps on the PP to up his value, trade him next.

When the cap increases that cap hit he has won’t be THAT bad for a 2C honestly. Look around. Just wait for the contracts handed out to the centers in next year market.
4D chess? That’s like 1D chutes and ladders. Mika isn’t producing more on the power play by removing the single reason anyone ever thought he was good at the power play in the first place

I don't pretend to understand how NHL coaching panels work, but it's not just that the actual d-men are shit, it's that the whole defensive scheme looks either terrible or non-existent. No-one, forwards or D, seems to know what they are doing. How much of that is one him compared to Lavi and the players themselves I'm not sure, but he's obviously part of it in some way

Here’s even more indicting evidence of just how pathetic things have gotten. Panarin, the guy who pretends he can’t speak English at times was the only player with a letter spoke to the media after the game. Gutless clowns.

Kreider is worth more than that. He has the 8th most goals in the league over the last 3+ seasons, and the 4th most playoff goals. He's locked up at a good number for the next 2 1/2 years.

If Drury does trade him, he isn't going to be looking for picks and prospects. He's going to be looking for NHL players.

Yup. This team has a serious issue with the gap between the aging core and the "next gen". Potential trades need to fix that issue so good established NHL players, or quality young players on the doorstep (e.g. Pinto types), need to come back for outgoing players. The Grieg, Frederic types are a step below what's needed the most. Fresh picks that will be ready players in 5-6 years is again missing the mark.

If Trouba was really shopped in the summer then doing something now shouldn’t take long

What about Crouse in UT? He’s struggling too

Schmalz , Crouse for Trouba ,Kreider

They have the cap space

Would need to find a D later though

Trouba's NTC is the issue. No doubt his agent made sure to only have teams that are awkward to make deals with on "the Artist Captain's" approved list. Trouba will cling on until next summer regardless of how much management and fans (and teammates who want to win the cup - hi Kreider) hate it. Anything else would be a miracle.

I’m sure Drury will waive him if he’s blocking something
