Hindsight is 20/20. No one knew if Eichel's neck was going to keep his head attached to his body after his surgery.

I would rather us have kept Kakko, Othmann, and our 1st, at least as well.

Keeping Zibanejad was the right move at the time given the hindsight, but signing him to that contract with the NMC was the death bong.
Fixed it for you. It's an inside joke. @Machinehead @mike14

If the Rangers (and Mika specifically) look better with Berard and Cuylle on his wings, and win a well played game tonight, does that help or hurt Kreids?

On the flip side if they continue to look the same without him in the lineup, does that help or hurt?

I'm a big believer in #NothingEverHappens with public rumors like this but part of me thinks the die is already cast with #20.

You know what? Let them trade Kreider. I hope it happens.

When we have the same team but with a few less goals, maybe the narrative that you can hardass bad players into being good will go away.

Or maybe, just maybe we get better 5 on 5 and gove up less goals and opporunities. Or maybe his replacement starts putting up higher numbers.

I sweat that people here think he is a top 5 player in the NhL.

He is t

Chris, Steve Staios on line 1 for you.

Tell him I'm unavailable.

Chris, Kevyn Adams on line 2.

I'm not here.

Chris, Marketing on line 1, they're saying the team no longer matches their taglines, No Quit in NY and It Takes Everyone.

Damn, I can't have that. Get Steve Staios and Kevyn Adams on the phone for me.

Kreider really might be getting the Marian Gaborik treatment. Would be quite a bombshell. Gaborik getting traded mid-season for some good depth catapulted the Rangers from an OK team to the Cup Final the next season, lest we forget.

Kreider won't get close to the haul Gaborik did. Even though he should bring 2 or 3 good pieces based on his contract, he's not getting back a 2C, a PITA bottom sixer, anda steady bottom pairing defenseman. Maybe the last two, but definitely not the center.

Difference is Gaborik wanted out from under Torts. He waived to go play in Colombus.

Not enough talk about the center ice position absoljutely killing this team. Yes Zibanejad is getting plenty of deserved heat, Trocheck not enough.

He's been dogshit but doesn't get as much heat.

impactul centers drive play, comeback and help our the dman to get puck out of the zone and keep it in the ozone.

Rangers top 2 guys are failing miserably in that regard

Brassard was a bust CBJ wanted no part of, and Im pretty sure John Moore was a healthy scratch for them. If the rangers can get Byram, McLeod and another piece from Buffalo for Kreider, Id consider it a solid move.

Trocheck is flying under the radar because of the two guys playing wing on that line. He's been almost as bad a Zib. Complete non-factor most nights.

Trocheck has been really bad. Low-key, he only has 10 points.

Yeah sure, as a depth guy for LA. That was never happening with the Rangers playing him as their go to guy, like we currently are with Kreider.
Why not just let Kreider be the depth guy here? I don't understand why he has to be moved because he's not playing like a 1st line stud. He's a perfectly fine 3LW and PP/PK specialist.

I like Zegras. I have no delusions about what he is at the moment. I don't think anyone interested in him has this sort of idea that he's going to come in here and revitalize the team, put up 70 points and banish Mika and Trocheck to the shadow realm. At this moment you'd look at him as someone to slot in on that kid line. He brings some of the things Chytil does. Kakko and Cuylle can play the heavy game. Zegras is the speedy playmaking pivot between them. He's a good distributor. That's what I'd be looking for. Help drive that kid line for the time being. I don't think he's going to come in here right away and blow up the league. I'd look at him as someone who can replace Chytil in the short term. Possibly supplant Mika or Vinny in the long term

There's a ton of upside there. I've heard it a million times on these boards. Forget about everyone else's players. Just our own.. Laf sucks, Chytil sucks, Kakko sucks, JT Miller sucks, Buchnevich sucks. It's almost like most young player go through growing pains. A coach can try to instill the right habits and help round out a players game, but you can't teach dynamic offensive ability.

But really thats a move I'd be looking at to see who he is as a player a couple years down the line where hopefully he's a more matured player. The make up of our roster could look a lot different at that time. I don't particularly care about the T U F F N E S S, we'll have enough of that.

Yeah, at the time, the haul didn’t feel that impressive. Brassard and Moore were underwhelming projects that needed a scenery change and Dorsett (while a good one) was still a 4th liner.

Quite a few rangers fans were unenthusiastic about the return and I remember quite a few CBJ fans telling us Dorsett was the most valuable piece we got back.

Because his lack of leadership is what is driving these trade talks, he's 34 and the Rangers dont want to pay a declining guy 6.5 mil for the next 2.5 seasons to be a 3rd liner.
