I want to point out the same people complaining about Lafreniere's defense are the people that complained we don't develop young players' offense and mocked Quinn for teaching them to play "the right way".
I don't think our forwards are any worse defensively than anything else that's going on in a 7 goal per game league.

They suck at forechecking, and they suck at exits, but who wouldn't with this D corps?

I like all the young players and want to see them in better positions to excel. Miller, Fox and Laf are too close to the vets that they have picked up their lazy tendencies. But that's what happens when you foster an organizational culture that doesnt make lineup decisions based on merit.
Fox strikes me as one of the ringleaders, not one of the followers.

Im not ready to say that
He's a dude that is used to being the best at every level without having to work that hard at it. We also need to remember this is a kid who refused to play for two different organizations before forcing his way here. I'm not saying he's fully responsible for the entitled culture that pervades this teams' mentality, but I don't think it's a stretch to say he went right along with it. It's also obvious that he stopped improving once he signed his long term deal. I dunno if that's coincidence or not, but his game has definitely plateaued.

And before you jump all over me @Machinehead for criticizing your boy, I'm well aware there are way bigger issues on this team. However he's not immune to critcism & it's fair to call him out for his game being stagnant. He hasn't scored a goal in 10 months.

Making Fox an issue on this defense corps is like looking at an engine that's completely fried, taking the one firing piston, and being like "this thing is making a funny noise."

My more nuanced take on Fox is that the laziness and softness of the core absolutely has made him more lazy and soft than he once was but that's correctable. Some see Fox on PP1 with an A and want to lump him in with the true culprits but I think that's unfair. He's a young guy still. Young guys follow the lead of the older veterans, and when the veterans play this milquetoast style with no emotional commitment, it trickles down.

I will get on Fox for not having a goal since the end of the regular season last year (0 goals in the playoffs since 2022 also btw). He had 17 last year. He has his lowest shots/60 of his career this season by a significant margin. Too many forced passes and dumb turnovers. Shoot the damn puck and have the forwards hunting for rebounds. It's a team wide issue and as much as I blame the vets, Fox should grow up and start playing like he means it.

My whole thing is, let me have a team that's not hot ass at every aspect of 5v5 hockey and then let's worry about hard work.

Definitely agree with this

On that note, it's probably against the rules, but if @Leonardo87 will let it slide, I'm going to post pictures of actual shit:

That's a massive aberration for Kreider based on his historical outputs, but also, he's headed for 34. The rest of them are having a normal one.

That's three out of your top four on defense. The house is on fire and we're wondering if the wallpaper is the wrong color. Let's put the fire out.

You dont think that having a team that works hard would improve the 5v5 play? It's literally the biggest impediment the team has. The talent up front is as good as its been for the Rangers this millennium. We know about the limitations with the defense.

Having a defense corps that doesn't probably belong in the AHL (at least half of it) is my primary concern.

I am not enjoying being correct about K'Andre. I still think he can be a fine second pair guy with Schneider if we can actually acquire a top pair guy to play with Fox.

How the hell is Lindgren's chart better than Miller's when Lindgren-Fox was significantly worse than Miller-Fox. Is it because of Miller's time with Trouba?
