Jesus, I didn't realize how we hit a home run in the 2020 draft! The 22 year olds:

Laf - Ok, a no brainer but we still got so lucky to get that 1st overall
Schneider - Top 4 dman that also has 224 games under his belt
Cuylle - Great young power forward
Garand - High potential goalie
Berard - One of our top prospects who will hopefully be a nice 3rd liner spark plug.
Rempe - hopefully future regular 4th line difference maker

That's a home run.

Cuylle has made kreider 100% expendable. Cuylle is kreider if kreider was capable of producing testosterone.

I think we see some big moves this offseason with trouba, kreider and lindgren gone and perhaps even kandre gone. Will be interesting
This will only happen if Drury is also gone. Dude has not nuts and will not take amy chance.

Just ride Gortons team till he fails.

I cant stand him.

gonna make this fast

last nite Brodz benched 2nd half, did not hear why

2 prior games Brodz = EXCELLENT fit on new kid line
instead we got Vesey, who is not a pivot at C

coach Lav.
BEND BUCKLE AND BREAK IN CAPITULATION TO THE FACT THAT ON THIS, BERN IS RIGHT AND YOU ARE WRONG

Vesey is overrated, Rempe underrated
lineup was stronger first upwards of 10 games in the season when Rempe + Brodz were in and Vesey was out

Again, Vesey = zero hope of saving us in POs vs more physical cats
Rempe w/NHL experience he needs, not the A, plus tutoring can get there

everyone was distraught LaF couldn't skate
and to a certain measure, he couldn't
until he could
and we did not send him down
Rempe ALREADY has SUPERIOR n-s speed, just needs to improve his e-w lateral.
He can screen and do tip ins and he is not there as a scorer, which may yet come
Kreider also a late bloomer

stop w/your stupidity
LISTEN TO BERN
and like it!

oh yeah, other thing is way too many shots last nite
exhausted Igor had 45 at least when he let in game winner
again REMPE not JV provides energy to this roster

Feel like Igor and a smaller add should be enough for Tkachuk.

Rental Igor, probably not. Unless Ottawa wants to give him a record breaking contract. They honestly might considering their perpetual goalie issues. But would Igor sign there?

I feel like Igor's presence on the roster is becoming more and more a root cause of the apathetic play. I've defended Drury over the years but any time he wants to do something bold and put his stamp on the team would be greatly appreciated. Drury has been around the organization so long he has to see that we have nothing to show for 4 ECFs and 1 Final building the team from the expensive goalie out. I love Igor and appreciate his contributions but Im very open to trying a different approach. Especially when we have almost a full rosters worth of talented skaters 25 years old and younger.

I don't know if that's a popular take yet but it's something I've even thought about too now. He's playing way above my expectations. He's scoring at a 68 point pace playing just under 14 minutes a game! I don't expect that to fully continue but he's opening some eyes for sure. Cuylle has 15 points in 18 games. Kreider has just 9 points. Cuylle is about to turn 23, Kreider will be 34 in April. One guy is on his way up, one guy is nearing the way down.

In some ways it's starting to remind me a little of Dallas with Benn and Seguin a few years ago. There was a little stretch there where they started regressing and the newer, younger players started taking over the team. It went from being Benn and Seguin's team to Roope Hintz and Jason Robertson's. And they've continued to flow in the newer, younger players... Wyatt Johnston, Logan Stankoven and now Mavrik Bourque is getting games too. They've gotten more contributions the last few years from guys like Pavelski and Duchene. Its no longer Benn and Seguin's team. Their play has recovered a bit the last couple years now that they're a power house, but it's not the same. There was a stretch where they regressed back to ~50 point players. In 21-22 both Benn and Seguin failed to even reach the 50 point mark, both under 30 points at 5v5. Those contracts were/are complete albatross'. Nearly 10M per for guys who's play was falling off a cliff.

Starting to sound awfully familiar... Mika is locked in forever, at least in Kreider's case if this is the beginning of his regression he's at the end of his deal. Those two just cannot drive play at 5v5 right now, and honestly who knows if they'll get back to form. If this is the way Kreider is trending it's something you have to think about. 6.5M is a lot of money. We have cheaper, younger players ready for a bigger role. 6.5 million, along with the rest of the cap space can get us a huge upgrade on defense. I'm not sure what the future will be with Panarin, but looking forward we have all these potential guys at wing... Laf, Perreault, Kakko, Cuylle, Othmann, Berard. In the immediate future there's only 1 opening in the whole top 9 for Gabe, Othmann and Berard. That'll be Smith's spot. What do you do with the remaining 2? They're going to stay in the AHL until their 24/25 waiting for Kreider and Panarin's spot? No. Are they trade bait? ... the 3rd line has become the 2nd line. The wonder twins are falling by the way side. I'm becoming more and more comfortable with the idea of opening up another spot this summer.

It would be nutty to me if they gin back up the healthy scratch carousel of Vic and Jones every other game. Meanwhile Lindgren and Tuba have countless embarrassing gaffes every game with complete impunity. They both get touch butt assists last game so out goes Jones! Can't make this shit up 🤣

one of these years i hope they figure out the simple, low cost/low disruption move that would change the complexion of the entire team. they need someone who flies around the ice as a menace hounding pucks in the bottom 6. look at cup winners...pitt happened to win again after adding hagelin, tampa with gourde, col broke through with lehkonen, fla had rodriguez and cousins. obviously those are just examples of some established guys, not targets. you want to target a guy with a chip on their shoulder and something to prove.

there's a difference between speed and playing fast. the rangers don't have any speed deficiencies...at least up front for sure...what they do have is an absence of guys with speed who constantly play fast. just one guy like that in the lineup who was a quick, speedy, forechecking menace that retrieved pucks and could force bad decisions by hounding the puck would change the complexion of the entire roster. if you have one guy in your lineup who brings that, it will have guys on the other team playing a bit rushed whether he's on the ice or not...for a team that loves transition offense, it's borderline dereliction of duty by mgmt to not have made it a mission to find a player like that.
Couldn’t agree more, and the thing is they may have that in house with Berard if he ever makes it. But yeah the Rangers puck retrieval skills are bottom of the league I would guess and that has to do with not having players who skate well enough but also don’t have the mentality you are talking about.

Dumping Trouba, Lindgren and Kreider gives the rangers 20 million in cap flexibility in an offseason where they have 4 critical contracts to negotiate. Absolute no brainer. Sorry to the folks who want some WWF storybook ending for Kreider.

Too bad this is going to be the reality. Change is death for this organization
