Cuylle is playing himself into a much bigger contract. Extending him for term would probably be ideal, but the cheaper route might be a 2 year deal because if he's pacing for 50 points at the end of the season, that long term deal isn't going to be a cheap as we hope. Kakko is having a better season also needs a new deal.

It would be our luck that players figure it out during contract years.

@bernmeister I don't see how we make a move for McAvoy even while dumping Lindgren and Trouba. We need the cap and will need to potentially make a big move when Panarin's deal expires, should we not re-sign him. If Panarin is breaking 100 points through the end of his contract, then I don't see why he takes a much cheaper deal. He probably looks for a 2-3 deal at an above 10m rate.

Lindgren has dragged Fox down for over a year. Trouba/Miller is disgusting. Where are you seeing Lindgren and Fox great together? This just screams listening to Sam and Joe babble on about how much of a warrior Lindgren is...
KAM has been crap with fox. For years Lindgren and Fox have played well together - what information disputes that?

Also I think there’s more balance with KAM paired with Schneider and Jones with Trouba.

You simply cannot trade Kakko. Not now. Not when he is figuring it out.

Also, get Cuylle and Kakko a Center. Those two are machines together.
God I hate to bring up this name but Zegras might make a very interesting center for them. Cools and Kappo fill in where Zegras is weak and vise versa.

Apologies for bringing him up for the millionth time but its an intersting idea.

Edit. Or...put Zibanjad there and forget Zegras. Probably the same outcome anyway. Maybe C & K on his wings gets him to remember how to play a, wall to wall, 3 zone game again.

BTW, Cuylle and Fast are two non-premium pick players that were great contributors that we got for a trade of a bust (Sanguinetti for Fast and Andersson for Cuylle). Do you guys think if we drafted Cuylle with 7 pick instead of Lias we'd be happy or disappointed with that pick?

If Cuylle was drafted 7 overall the expectations for him wouldve been way out of whack. If #TheRebuild taught me one thing, it's that draft position only matters on draft day.

This team takes the next step when they replace Lindgren and Trouba. Mancini looks like he could potentially be the Trouba replacement.

We need a top4LHD. There's no way around that. Lindgren is no where near good enough

I also don't understand why Trouba's getting so much ice time. 23:25 last night. Schneider stuck at 15min

I mean every advanced stat shows that KAM has been much better with Fox than Lindgren. When those two are out there most of the chances are for the Rangers. Being gritty doesn't make you good and Lindgren's play has fallen off the face of the earth the last few years. He's still living off his play from years ago.

You dont scratch a proven PPG center. No matter how loud emotional fans on a internet forum get.
All we can do is hope that he will get his shit together because we wont win shit unless he finds his game again. And I dont mean just points. I want him to drive play like Chytil does. Its in him, we have seen it.
How many points would he have without pp1? Id argue anyone playing with Fox, Kreider and Panarin and his position on it would have similar stats. This isn't a waiting it out thing anymore this is more than a year of this meddling play. He needs a reset

24 minutes of ice time because he can't clear the zone.

Totally agree that a top 4 LHD is needed, but who is available? In an ideal world it's a guy who isnt a rental and be a part of the team going forward, but I guess that's tough with the cap. Id be willing to trade some of the AHL youth for that type of player.

Trade Othmann for Jiricek. I think JD would be all over that.

Teams are guarding their top 4 established defensemen very jealously right now.

I'm not saying I disagree that we need to get better in that area, but there is no easy solution.

Mancini showed some nice tools but he’s not ready for NHL minutes, the Rangers are going to have to go outside of the organization if they plan on replacing Lindgren or Trouba.
I think Mancini showed he was close to nhl ready, and the expectation is he’s the injury call up.

I think the year in Hartford would get him nhl ready.

I know the team needs/wants a top-4 LD but, and this is meant with all sincerity to a guy who clearly plays injured and is a warrior, replacing Lindgren with a competent bottom-pairing d-man who can PK and add some size is really all that is called for. I mean it would be great to find the next Hanifin who is available but even just a simple meat and potatoes LD would be an upgrade there.

I'm not saying specifically him, but Mario Ferraro or Jacob Middleton are the types of guys I'm thinking.

I’d prefer to leave him in the AHL all season unless he starts playing so well he makes it impossible to keep him down there,
I think injury call up is actually perfect.
Let him keep seeing the nhl game. Seeing growth in his own game, and getting feedback about what he can improve down in hfd.
Lavi is known as a fantastic communicator and Muse has done an amazing job working with our younger guys.
The instruction he’s getting here is exactly what I want him to get and take back to hfd.

This aint it chief! Not after the game he just had.

Be happy that our 1st line center is getting his groove back.

They stink but they’re also 4th in the conference with the 3rd best goal differential.

I'd have been happier with Necas who we had to have scouted being we took Fil earlier than he was projected.

Add, not understanding why hes still got a C on his chest.

If the answer is, "who else then", you have a very telling reason why this team treads water at best.

Kinda reminds me of Messiers 2nd tour with us and Leetch gave up the Captaincy to Mark. The further Mark went downhill the more meaningless that C became which is a very bad look for the team and inside the room.

Weak Captain, weak team.

What a depressing post on the heals of a 3 game winning streak and a...checks notes...12-4-1 record. We have a Devil fan on the main boards calling out our fanbase for being ridiculously negative and who can argue with him?
