The cap is going up. The cap is going up. *Grabs the megaphone* ANNOUNCEMENT. ANNOUNCEMENT. THE CAP IS GOING UP!"

When top 4 D-men reset the market after the cap goes up we can talk about the next cap increase to potentially bail out bad signings. Everybody is going to get a piece of that cap increase. You don't just get extra money to play with when building a team to compete.

Couldn't trade Goodrow either, where is he at? Put zib on the 4th line, no pp, he'll see things our way.
Depends how much pride you think he has.
Still in NY - Check.
Still on the same team as Kreider - Check.
Still getting paid - Check.
Watching the team panic and putting Zibanejad back out on the ice - Check.

With Brodz in for Chytil, that line is much more of a checking line and less of an offensive threat. I'd flip Smith and Cuylle, as both have experience playing their off wing. Give Cuylle top line minutes and maybe add some spice to the wonder twins bland 5v5 play:

Kreider-Zib-Cuylle
Smith-Brodz-Kakko

It’s really amazing that people look at cuylle and think he’s somehow any part of the engine that drives offense?

Such is the state of the world.
Yeah well despite the lack of fighting in the modern NHL the goons still get sought out in the pre games and after practice for interviews and quotes ....and the goalie are indeed the most marketable or at least in Canada . When teams get a young hot goalie they are plastered everywhere in marketing campaigns .

How much worse could it be than what they are currently doing at 5v5 with Zib & Kreider?
With Chytil out, personally, I'd like to see Cuylle-Zib-Kakko. Give Brodz to Kreider and Smith and let them deal with it.

Cuyle and Kakko have outplayed their opponents convincingly this year. They also play a great board game that could benefit Zib if he gets open to rip some slappers.

Why can't Lavi just let me pick the lines one time? Why?

If he’s only out for a month thenthat would be a good outcome, I don’t expect him back anytime soon
It’s not so much how long is he out for this time, it’s more so, when/if he comes back, how long before he is out again? At this point, I’m afraid he can’t be counted on to hold a regular roster spot and the team makeup needs to be adjusted accordingly.

Kakko should be tried at Center. He has all the tools to be a pretty good center. He has a small amount experience playing Center in Liiga. He took only 23 draws last year but was 56.5%. He has the size, strength, responsibility, among other attributes to be effective. It would open up options for how you approach potential acquisition targets.

RE: Crosby

Yes he would cost quite a bit. Retention would certainly be needed. But at 50% retained they would be able to fit him and still be able to add a veteran defenseman. They could move different salaries around. 1st, 2nd, Othmann, and another prospect to get the dialogue started. Crosby between Cuylle and Kakko would be a solid, solid line. Or Trocheck there with Crosby between Laf and Panarin.

RE: BOSTON

They are a disaster right now. It was only a matter of time. Marchand is on an expiring contract. That would be my first call. Charlie Coyle. Frederic. There are guys there that could help this group.

1, Kakko isn't fast enough to play center. otherwise 100% agree.
2. Pittsburg isnt moving crosby, and he's not waiving. They're absolutely not moving him intradivision.

Didn't Edstrom play center at some point? Let him have some reps and see what we've got to work with, even if it means giving Mika more 5v5 time while we see what we have.
Theoretically Cuylle-Edstrom-KK could be a very useful line

Rangers need to seriously consider buying out Chytil in the offseason if they can't trade him. He is made of glass and is still 25 and under so the buyout is only a third. Rangers would have another 4 mill in cap to spend upgrading the defense and/or 3C.
