So, for the "run it back" folks

Reilly Smith is clearly, after 6 games, the best winger to play with KZ since Buchnevich
Blake Wheeler isn't missed
Bonino isn't missed
Pitlick isn't missed
Double K is starting to resemble a top 6 RW
Mancini has been a revelation
Goodrow was a train wreck until the playoffs
Trouba has clearly heard the trade bell ringing
Shesterkin is letting everyone know why he didn't sign for 11M/Per
Panarin looks the same as last year which is saying something
Lafreniere will surely eclipse his point total for last year
Fox / Miller thing looks pretty good
Edstrom belongs on the team
Carrick is just fine
Vesey will make the 4th line even better > Brodzinski
Zac Jones looks relegated to spot duty as 7D unless Vitto falls off a cliff

And, for whatever voodoo hockey goods you pray to or dolls you put needles in, sacrifice something in your backyard so Chytil doesn't get hurt again. This guy might be the key to everything.

Team looks good. Hopefully they look this good in April.

I mean a healthy Chytil is a #2C. What we had last year for #3C was arguably not even #4C level.

Yeah, it makes a difference.
I was emphasizing his health because he was back for the playoffs last year but clearly was not still himself.

It might seem like stating the obvious (which is done a lot around here anyway so who cares) but it is moreso making a point that the team that lost last year has a healthy Chytil as an internal addition - so it never was truly just "running it back with the same team that lost"

It never was no matter what. Goodrow, Roslovic, Gustaffson, Wennberg , etc…

Furthermore, it’s not even an oranges to oranges comparison. If anything the opening lineups to each season should be compared, not the post season post TDL lineup with the opening night lineup.

The team, right now, is already better than what played vs. the Panthers in the ECF’s.

That wasn’t a deadline move. That took what a full season + before they won the cup?

I didn’t say deadline. I would totally agree not to chase expensive deadline rentals, they do not work hardly ever.

They need to save up and invest in long term solutions … in case yes it takes more than one season of tries.

To be honest I'm not the biggest Shea Theodore fan. Now Vegas has him until he's 37 years old. That's another thing I'm not a fan of. The last 2/3/4 years could be bad for them.

KZ needs to be broken up. What I'd try:

Panarin - Trocheck - Kreider
Lafreniere - Zibanejad - Smith
Cuylle - Chytil - Kakko
Edstrom - Carrick - Brodzinski

The only way we can build this roster to compete for the cup is by blowing up the entire team. Not minor personnel changes. So this thread is obsolete.
