The Rangers sent Brandon Dubinsky, Artem Anisimov, Tim Erixon, and the Rangers 2013 first round pick (Kerby Rychel) in exchange for Rick Nash, Steve Delisle, and the Blue Jackets’ 2013 third round pick (Pavel Buchnevich).
 
You don't pluck players off waivers for AHL depth.

This isn't just an unwritten old boys club view in the NHL (although fairly respected by GMs), these players have families. You take a player off waivers if you want to give them a legitimate shot at your roster, not hoard talent.
It is a silly suggestion unless you're giving them an NHL spot, if you waive them again the original team can claim them back and then send them to AHL directly. If you want them as AHL depth, you'll have to trade for them. Thomas Jurco would be the guy to get, righty shot and near carbon copy of Fast. Better 13th forward than what we currently have or down in the AHL.
