There's also the possibility of a Nash trade.

Rangers mantra, like some others have pointed out in this thread, has been "trade our pieces and then sign replacements"...

Poo isn't some sort of defensive specialist like Nash, but for this system we play in, Nash is getting worse and worse because the game is built on speed. Pouliot is faster than Nash. If you have a chance to swap out Nash for RNH + assets then sign Poo for $1.5M/2 years, then you gotta do it.

If we sign Tkachyov, it is another very skilled winger added to the mix. I like it. With Buchnevich and Bereglazov, it's easier for him to adjust. We can then trade Miller or Zuccarello to get a proper center and avoid Hayes playing on the 2nd line

This board is funny. Last summer several people were saying we should go after RNH not Stamkos but now Stepan is way better than RNH?

I would still want Stamkos by far if he can get past his injury.

Kreider Zibanejad Buchnevich
Pouliot Hayes Zuccarello
Vesey Miller Nash
Grabner Grigorenko Fast
Nieves/Puempel

McDonagh Shattenkirk
Skjei Smith
Bereglazov DeAngelo
Graves/Pionk

Lundqvist
Nilsson

pls

Yeah. This board is so wishy washy. Hold on a sec. What's that? You're saying this board isn't actually one opinion but thousands of posters each with their own varying opinions? Crazy....

Including the playoffs, Pouliot played 80 games last year and had 14 points. What am I missing? It seems like he's still a decent/good PKer, but I don't see why he's fit for a middle 6 role at this point, especially with all the choices we already have on offense.

Staal will be there too. This will also be really tight to the cap

He had one bad year.

Only McDavid and Hall and were better even strength scorers the two years prior.

Well I have around 1700 accounts that I post under so I assumed it was only around 10 of us on here. :D

I know this is probably a general statement, but if this is directed at me since I said Stepan was better than RNH, I didn't want either of them last year, don't want either of them this year and going forward. Stamkos has had a major injury in the past 3-4 seasons, and I don't really think he's capable of scoring 50-60 goals in a full season anymore either

Pouliot is not 2nd line material. 8 goals last year. His highest ever is 19 and he's not a passer. A good year for him is 30-35 points. He had a tendency with us of taking brain dead penalties.

Maybe he'd fit on the third or fourth line but I certainly wouldn't break the bank for him.

that was last year when every canadien team was downright awful. He has to re-submit a list every year for his NTC stipulations. I would bet that EDM is on there. Who wouldn't want to play with McDavid?

Maybe he doesn't want to pay double the taxes.

It was just a general statement. One of the benefits of old age is I can not remember who said what often so I can not hold grudges (too long lol).

In regards to Stamkos I bet you are right that he will not score 50-60 goals again but who does? Last season Kreider led us with 27. I think Stamkos if healthy for a full season is good for around 40 give or take 5.

Are we seriously going to reach 40 pages in less than 48 hours? My god... Who said the off-season was boring? ;)

From June, like, ~20th through the first week of July is my favorite time of year.

New uniforms, new coaches, new captains, the draft, lots of trades, and then free agency.

I don't know why people think it's boring.

So many good UFA wingers available depending on AAV and term. Maybe moving JTM to C is the right move anyways (or trade him).

I'd **** with Hartnell if he came cheap. That dude did work 5v5 last season. 33 points in 820 minutes.

Hartnell is hilarious

One of those players you enjoy watchin even though he is playing for other teams

Same here. I love every second of it. This year we had 2 drafts even! And yeah, the speculating, players being bought out, undrafted kids coming into camp, some blockbuster trades and then trying to figure out how to stay under the cap.

Scratch that last one. Seems as if we don't worry about the cap anymore. Seems as if we are going into the season with a few millions in cap space just like last year ;)

I'd love to sign Hartnell. Let him be your depth veteran go-to guy. Decent in the playoffs too

I wonder if there is a way for the Rangers to give certain players end of season bonuses based on excess/remaining cap in that season. You could potentially get some value signings that way. More money for players, or you know the team is maximizing its cap to give the team the best chance at winning. Allows for trade deadline rental acquisitions, etc.

The only question I have is, do performance bonuses (or "performance" bonuses in this case) cause that player's AAV to creep up? I know signing bonuses get applied to AAV. If they do, this idea doesn't work at all. I suppose you could do it later in the contract if it does.
