Rare Jewel
Patience
Yeah, I don't disagree with the logic to sign a player like him, but I'm really not sure if it's worth the hassle for either party. This team needs to take some risks. McLeod if found not guilty, really has nothing hanging over his head. Ok, so a couple of people make a stink for 15 seconds, until this world that has less of an attention span, than a Twitter post, really will forget about it in a matter of minutes, until they are outraged about something else. Personally, I think they will be found not guilty, not because they didn't do something wrong, but from what I've read, the case isn't strong enough... but I'm speculating. He'll have no criminal record, no proof of doing anything wrong.... So, no really much of a risk for very long.
Would he want to restart his NHL career here? I haven't spoken to him, but it's close to him, so there might be some comfort in that...but we are in the business of looking for good players, and he's a pretty solid, physical, decent skating bottom six C, who should likely come cheap. He's a real C... not some winger filling in.
So, yes, we should explore all possibilities.
I think all of those guys would be best to restart themselves in smaller markets.
As for the Leafs, there are other comparable targets to McLeod that will make it not really a big miss.
