Roster Building/Team Building/Future Trade/Drafting thread.

If this team once again fails to proceed very far in the playoffs, what would you want them to do?

This team needs to take some risks. McLeod if found not guilty, really has nothing hanging over his head. Ok, so a couple of people make a stink for 15 seconds, until this world that has less of an attention span, than a Twitter post, really will forget about it in a matter of minutes, until they are outraged about something else. Personally, I think they will be found not guilty, not because they didn't do something wrong, but from what I've read, the case isn't strong enough... but I'm speculating. He'll have no criminal record, no proof of doing anything wrong.... So, no really much of a risk for very long.

Would he want to restart his NHL career here? I haven't spoken to him, but it's close to him, so there might be some comfort in that...but we are in the business of looking for good players, and he's a pretty solid, physical, decent skating bottom six C, who should likely come cheap. He's a real C... not some winger filling in.

So, yes, we should explore all possibilities.
Yeah, I don't disagree with the logic to sign a player like him, but I'm really not sure if it's worth the hassle for either party.

I think all of those guys would be best to restart themselves in smaller markets.

As for the Leafs, there are other comparable targets to McLeod that will make it not really a big miss.

Who are some players that could potentially play alongside Knies and Matthews? I know we have Domi, but I don’t feel 100% comfortable having him on our top line and I don’t think Berube does as well. It’s hard to find someone who can compliment those two and is somewhat even realistic.

Who better than AM's childhood hero, Patty Kane?

If that Peterka trade is true Kevyn Adams looks even more of a dolt. He just did an interview saying how much misinformation is spreading about his team. Including the Peterka rumours

Perry is apparently looking for 2.5Mish for 2 years. I'd give him a little more for just 1 year, but 2 years at 2M could be ok? That would jam up the bottom lines quite a bit.

Reilly has to agree to that, he has a NTC
That’s what I don’t understand while the rest of league can always trade their players with NTC or NMC and still attract players yet Leafs can never get their players to waive and still apparently(I don’t believe it) being known as a ‘toxic’ environment for players.

Sign Ekblad, trade Carlo for top 6 forward

Trade Cowan, 2nd for another top 6

Ideally one of those top 6 forwards is a center

Fill out the bottom 6 in free agency

Don’t understand why Carlo is the odd man out.

Reilly should be the odd man out.

Would much rather have
McCabe-Ekblad
OEL-Tanev
Benoit-Carlo

As the Dcorps
