He had an excellent off-season last year. Stolarz, Tanev, OEL, Lorenz, Patches all on good contracts. Hak was the only miss but no real harm done.

I just want an active, aggressive and shit to get done. So far it's more or the same... If July 1st rolls and he still hasn't started making changes, i think it's time to change managers as soon as possible.

I think he'll burn the boats and then find out they landed on the wrong island.

Tanev, Ekman-Larsson are overpays, but yes for a time they'll be fine.
Carlo is fine, expensive to acquire, he is only 28.

All free agents yeah and they were good. Zero other moves, didn't push changes outside of the coach change, and now about to lose a star for nothing, maybe 2. Still nothing on Knies about to walk him into offer sheet zone. Still plenty of dumps to get rid of. July 1st isn't far away.

Feels like this will be year 3 or shear minimal work.

I'd be perfectly content to play here but I would not have social media, or at least public.

I'd probably have some fake Facebook profile for family and that's it.

After that? Play hard. This is a blue collar kind of fan base. We like our skill etc but Clark, Tucker, Roberts, McCabe, Domi etc are the most popular in recent memory.

I've heard the SDPN guys talking about a transition year and I just don't get it. Just because Mitch is gone? If we add Marchand + Patty Kane using his money, we're a stronger playoff threat than last year.

Our goaltending is set, our defense is set, only thing we'd be missing is that two-way middle C.

We have Carlo, Stolarz and Laughton on bargain deals this year, gotta pay them the year after. Waste another year of Matthews.

Just don't see the need for a step-back tbh. In the unlikely event McDavid hits free agency, we'll find the money for him, I don't think we should be provisioning today for that unlikely event.

I'm obviously not the GM but my 2 cents is...

He wants to get Knies done first to ward off any offer sheet etc but that is harder than originally anticipated.

JT, there is no 8 year deal happening so he's gonna grind him down as hard as he can because I think our management finally realized they're in the driver's seat with a negotiation for once.

Marner...they clearly tried during the season to get it done and it didn't happen. Nothing since the end of the season would indicate Marner is changing his mind, I have to imagine they've made or are actively exploring contingency plans right now.

Robertson trade / Knies extension seem like the moves that can be made right now.

Jarnkrok, Kampf and even Domi trades are going to be after July 1st since teams likely want us to eat their bonus payments.

After that? Yea I guess we could trade other players but I think they don't want to take on too much cap too fast for the Knies situation.

Would not be surprised to see us make a move today or tomorrow though ahead of the draft.

I'm not nearly as confident as you are in goaltending or D. Woll and Stolarz are still unproven over any significant stretch. I'd say pretty similar to Skinner and Pickard

The D was the best we've had in years, still without a PP qb and relying on a 35 year old to stay healthy and maintain elite level shot blocking is pretty risky IMO.
