If this team once again fails to proceed very far in the playoffs, what would you want them to do?

Yes, but, he always had huge upside that he had not met ...was shocked he was waived, its potentially close to the Forsling being waived level of bad

That’s the Florida model. Buy low on guys that never met their full potential

They just have to put them into roles that they can succeed in. Not expect them to be top guys right away. There is probably a good list of guys like this that need a change of environment and a better support system

Missed out on Kreider, Marchment and Kane

Apparently in on all 3

Looks like Tre can't negotiate for shit
Did we miss out or did they not want to come here?
Kreider is American, probably didn’t want to live in Canada. Went to California. Oh the horror of beaches and summer.
Marchment went from low tax state to low tax state.
Kane was born in Vancouver. Went home just like Toews.

Always an excuse for Treliving I guess? Marchment declined the rumours about state tax and wore Toronto merch in his media tour after the trade. He said it was a Nill call, not his.

The Kreider thing I felt like there was a phone call with Trouba that got him to waive for that location.

Marchment did prefer here over Seattle but we're low on picks, I guess Robertson could have been used instead but then we'd have people say Marchment is slow.

Kane...I think we were in there but I think a lot of people in here would have complained about his off-ice stuff even though I would have chanced it for only 1 year.

Not an excuse for Treliving but Leaf fans have to stop thinking that every single player born, up for moving, is coming here.
Were we in on those players or are we interested in others.
In July/August I will pass any judgement on missed opportunities.

Theres an expectation of change and urgency. There's no expectation every player to land in Toronto, maybe just one would be nice?

It's more than just those 3 players btw. But at some point they need to start getting shit done.

July 1st hasn’t happened.
Not going after Kane if we are signing Marchand. Or Mangiapane.
Are we involved in a deal for Hertl or something out of Vegas to make room for Marner?
Are we going after Ekblad but have to wait and see before we can trade Carlo for something we need?
I don’t know. If we are looking at each other scratching our heads in August I will be right there with you pointing the finger.

We will see. Opinions change with new information. Can't even get JT and Knies locked up right now, rough start by the pizza mogul

Friedman said on his podcast that Marchment preferred going to a no-tax state to finish out his contract.

Kane can eat shit. He's the rare combination of on and off ice cancer

And Marchment himself literally said that's not true and the trade spot was Nills call.

Carlo can be traded after (if) Ekblad is signed. You dont want to trade him before and weaken the defence anticipating an upgrade that never comes. Plus if you get the biggest fish on the D market more teams Will pivot their interest to someone like Carlo.

Team dont want to trade for UFA aged players right now, and the prices reflect that. But once players are signed on July 1 (to massive AAVs) teams will be forced to look at trades, and will be happy to do so because existing contracts will be much cheaper. Therefore trade values go up

And with his attitude, even though his M-NTC is 16 teams, it is equivalent to a full NMC because no team would dare acquiring him if he doesn't want to be there.

I think Marchment would have been a good appetizer for a summer of change but Kane might have seemed a little desperate.

Have a feeling people are going to be fairly disappointed.

I think the leafs are going to sign some mid tier players just to get them through the season.

Trades are not going to bring back star players as the leafs do not have much to offer. I think where things might happen when teams want to dump mistake contracts. Other than that wait for next year.
