If this team once again fails to proceed very far in the playoffs, what would you want them to do?

Glass would a good post-hype addition who it could finally click for like a Morgan Geekie, Dylan Strome, or even a Sam Bennett.

This is the kind of reclamation project the Panthers have built their championship on (Verhaege, Bennett, Forsling). We would do well to pickup some young players that other teams have given up on considering our lack of picks and prospects.

If the team gets in on Ehlers, I hope it’s to play with Willy rather than Auston.
I’d like a revamped 2nd line of Ehlers and Nylander with Pius Suter as their defensive conscience. Be nice for 88 to have a guy who can fly.

And a guy who'll push back and drop the gloves.

Ehlers would be my choice over Boeser, but I don't think they can land either.

This is a player half the board will not want, and honestly, not even sure if I'm fully onboard with it as well....But I have a feeling Evander Kane might be a player of interest to Treliving/Berube

He had 95 hits in 21 games in the postseason. Has the skill to be in the top 6/9 with proper talent around him. Coming of surgery, so with a full off-season of training he might be decent.

But again, I dont know. Just throwing some names out there

I think this is an interesting topic.
With Mitch, as dynamic as the two are, does Matthews fall too much into that "sniper" role and he's always trying to find that quiet spot in the Ozone where Mitch can find him. Put him with two lesser skilled players and it forces him to carry the puck more and play more of a traditional heavy center game where he's downlow more and driving the play. Matthews/Marner were a great combo but it will be interesting to see how Matthews game potentially changes when he isn't playing alongside a 100pt winger who's a setup specialist.
I think the "just play hockey" dynamic of not having designated roles and linemates with tendencies and holes in their game that allow opposing teams to gameplan around neutralizing individual components of the line would be huge come playoff time.

I'm hoping for Boeser. Knies-Matthews-Boeser is an absolute train of a line. Any of of them can score from distance. Any one can shake a check and score in tight. Any one can be first man in and win the puck to initiate a cycle. None can be left uncovered, none can be safely/easily left on the perimeter in a contain

I'm all in on Cody Glass. He'd be my #1 UFA target right now. I'll bet he gets above the 2.5M NJ walked away from given then complete lack of C's on the market.
Should make him a tradeable commodity then.
My certainly unpopular take would be to sign him and staple NickRob to his wing.
Though the damage may already be too far done.

I don't see the hope for Robertson at all. I could be completely wrong here but he appears far more motivated by personal success than team success. It comes off in the way he plays and the way he speaks.

If they bring in Glass I'm stapling him to actual top 6 wingers to see if he can find any offense.

I don’t get the same sense, though I do accept the reports that he just wants to play. I see a guy who’s taken his lumps, plays hard in whatever role he’s given, skates well and can rip it.
If you believe in sophomore slumps, it’s possible he just had his.
Just strikes me that he produced at the same rate as Mangiapane (likely target) this year and is likely to be as motivated but cost much less.
It does seem like the door is closing on his time, but I’d love to see him get an actual chance on his preferred wing with a RS C.

Walk away from JT and make a trade for Kadri.
I would love Marchand as well but I have a feeling he will stay in Florida.
Evander Kane is a good buy low guy right now.
Cody Glass may be a decent addition
-sign Jeannot
-sign Tanev

Knies Matthews Nylander
Kane Kadri Cowan(Marchand if possible)
McMann Glass Domi
Jeannot Laughton Tanev

That's a greasy physical forward lineup.
If we could get Marchand it would be even better.

If he didn't fall down so much and look so unable to do anything against good players I might be more optimistic but for me personally I've seen enough to believe he will never be a contributor for a cup winning team.

I sure hope Treliving doesn't have the same loser mentality of "we are not winning the cup next season".
Forget winning the Cup, we'll be lucky if we make the playoffs next season, barring a miracle. Because by the sounds of it, all the big free agents are ruling Toronto out as a destination.

Cowan is likely out the door along with McMann for Kadri.

In my mind Carlo plus Hildeby plus Robertson gets it done but maybe not
Why does Calgary do that?

They have the best U25 goalie in the league, no need for a 23 year old goalie prospect who will never surpass Wolf.

Robertson doesn't even crack their top 9 given their infinite amount of LS wingers.

They also probably don't see any need for Carlo. They have Weegar, Andersson, Parekh, Miromanov at RD.
