I'm indifferent but the report of Ehlers wanting to go somewhere quiet, makes him an automatic no for me.Would prefer Ehlers to Boeser.

It's not when everyone wished it would've been but I think the best Matthews we've seen so far was the stretch where he played with Bertuzzi and Domi. It seems like he became well rounded especially with playmaking when that line had it's run.I think this is an interesting topic.
With Mitch, as dynamic as the two are, does Matthews fall too much into that "sniper" role and he's always trying to find that quiet spot in the Ozone where Mitch can find him. Put him with two lesser skilled players and it forces him to carry the puck more and play more of a traditional heavy center game where he's downlow more and driving the play. Matthews/Marner were a great combo but it will be interesting to see how Matthews game potentially changes when he isn't playing alongside a 100pt winger who's a setup specialist.
It does not make sense to trade Matthews at this time. The Leafs finished top 10 in the league, and are going to lose Marner. Losing one main player is going to hurt, but losing multiple main players means the Leafs will struggle to make the playoffs. They need Matthews to help them not be a team that finishes in the draft lottery.Move Matthews.
He isn't committed to the team anyway, why let him walk in a couple years?
Moving Nylander to fill the 2C hole long-term in a cap effective way makes a ton of sense for Toronto.Move Matthews.

He almost hit 70 goals while playing (mostly) on that line! It worked. It's not when everyone wished it would've been but I think the best Matthews we've seen so far was the stretch where he played with Bertuzzi and Domi. Boeser would work very well with knies. Knies short game would see a lot of short pass one time attempts from boeserIt sucks he seems locked into to Minny but i'd be definitely intrigued by Boeser. Maybe Matthews/Knies can make a call beforehand to convince an American to come to Toronto.
I don't think his contract will be insane but could be wrong
Yes please
Probably because he isnt as good as the artwork suggestsWhy are they not qualifying him?
Why are they not qualifying him?
I feel like he would be a player that has potential to out perform there contract.
Probably should ask you this @JKG33Could Carlo or McCabe get Danault?
I highly doubt we trade McCabe because he has an extension however it allows you to get more flexible at C, because you can go for an all out offensive guy (Tavares) also would allow you to pursue either Prov or Ekblad
If they can draft some talented stars he’s a perfect player to enhance a core. If they’re not interested in that, I hope he moves on to a better situation.Obviously, based on hope and not his performance todate.
Being way overrated today.
The assets acquired from trading 34 would pretty much guarantee making the playoffs, your fear mongering is unfounded in this regard…….It does not make sense to trade Matthews at this time. And even if it didn’t immediately, it would only put us in a much better position to keep making them in the next 3-5 years instead of Matthews taking off in 3 for nothing. The assets acquired from trading 34 would pretty much guarantee making the playoffs, your fear mongering is unfounded in this regard…….
I’m wondering if there’s a deal to be had with Calgary, Rielly + something for Andersson + Backlund - two 2026 UFAs who Calgary may not be interested or able to sign.I wonder if you see Brad still try to reshape the dcore. Go hard after Prov or Ekblad, sign one and then try shifting guys around in trades afterwards.
It sounds like Gavrikov is headed to NYR per Friedman. I thought he was for sure an Ekblad replacement in Florida.I’m wondering if there’s a deal to be had with Calgary, Rielly + something for Andersson + Backlund - two 2026 UFAs who Calgary may not be interested or able to sign.
Then replace Rielly with Gavrikov, certainly a Tre kinda guy. All of a sudden probably the deepest D Core in the league and have Matthews - Tavares - Backlund down the middle.
Knies - Matthews - XXX
XXX - Tavares - Nylander
XXX - Backlund - XXX
XXX - Laughton - XXX
Gavrikov - Andersson
McCabe - Tanev
OEL - Carlo

He does have a history of injuries, but if we move Kampf I'd definitely use his cap to give Glass a contract. Why are they not qualifying him?

Yeah calgary could get way more selling them off separatelyI’m wondering if there’s a deal to be had with Calgary, Rielly + something for Andersson + Backlund - two 2026 UFAs who Calgary may not be interested or able to sign.

Moving Matthews and opening up the 1C hole, arguably the most difficult position to fill in the sport, doesn’t make sense. If you’re moving Matthews and bringing in a younger 1C and a very good RD that makes sense.
Not a chance. Danault is an elite defensive 2C. Those types are rarely available. The McCabe and Carlo types are almost a dime a dozenCould Carlo or McCabe get Danault?

Where do you think Matthews would realistically waive where the Leafs are getting a 1C in return? Dallas for Johnston+ is the only deal that makes sense to me and I don’t know if the value is there.Yeah, Matthews would return a top center.
IF and a big IF, he is a top 3-5 center in the league, he'll return a 1st. line center ++.
Rielly waiving for Calgary is completely unrealistic. Willy waiving for Tampa seems like a no-brainer.He has a NMC but apparently that is irrelevant for all the Leafs players.
Obviously San Jose for MisaWhere do you think Matthews would realistically waive where the Leafs are getting a 1C in return? Dallas for Johnston+ is the only deal that makes sense to me and I don’t know if the value is there.
