I suppose we would have a ton of cap space without Tavares, Marner, and Nylander.

Marchand
Grandlund
Tanev
Ekblad
Boeser
Lorentz

Knies. Matthews. Boeser
Marchand. Granlund. Domi
McMann. Cirelli. Cowan
Lorentz. Laughton. Tanev

Rielly. Ekblad
OEL. Tanev
McCabe. Carlo
Benoit
You’d be bring in the same cap hit if the trade was Nylander and Holmberg for Cirelli and Bjorkstad

Now lets f***ing do this!

P.S. Only PAIN IN THE ASS is trading Rielly, if we can't then just replce Ekblad with Rielly :(

Note: More moves can be made next season like trading Domi to accommodate McJesus if we are every so lucky!

A lot of analysts have been mentioning Boeser’s name when talking about replacing Marner in the lineup. And then there’s others saying it’s all but done Boeser joining the Wild.

Lebrun is saying Marner could take a shorter term deal

Is it possible we see Matthews and Marner reunite somewhere else when Matthews next contract is up ?

Domi at 2C makes more sense than Domi as 3C. Domi needs to be in a pure offensive role. But regardless, Domi at center is not ideal.

Good job, $ amounts are adjustable.

Yeah, the fly in the ointment, Rielly.

But otherwise you didn't use any magic spells, like getting Vegas to send Karlsson for McMann and Robertson. And Tavares is not a 35+, so you can get him off the Cap with legitimate reasons, same with Tanev.

If people have magic spells, why not aim higher?

This line up and money spent in FA is......... not very good, Mangiapani doesn't make 7m in FA, nor does he make more then Boeser and Patrick Kane.

Domi playing 2nd line C after he struggled as 3C is certainly an interesting choice.

Patty Kane isn't making the same money that he did in his prime. Mangiapane's previous cap hit was 5.8AAV while P. Kane's was 4 AAV. I actually changed my mind and swapped in Saad for Mangiapane in the top6. Saad would sign a 1 yr deal IMO so I'd rather do that.

This year is a retooling year anyway IMO until we know the fate of McDavid.

I don't want Leafs to commit to a center until we are 100% sure that we are out of McDavid sweepstakes

Domi playing 2C is fine IMO; we are not going to get a bonafide superstar that would come at a relatively easy cap hit. If you want you can swap JT and Domi as centers. But I don't like Tavares as 2C either but it is what it is.... It also helps spread out offense instead of putting all the offensive eggs in top 2 line baskets.

Just one year until we know for sure whether or not McJesus is coming to Toronto or not.

Because Leafs aren't winning the cup next season. Its all about remaining competitive and growing with the updated roster while keep the door to McDavid open.

Committing ridiculous amount of cap in player acquisitions like McMann+Robertson for Karlsson is something i'd rather not do. I'd rather send these players out for draft picks which can be used for further deals

Mangiapane is almost a certainty to be a leaf next season. We should all have him penciled in as a leaf.

McMann - Domi - Mangiapane isn't a bad 3rd line. Gritty and skilled.

As for the "Leafs may flip a D-man for forward".....makes total sense but only if its Reilly.

Moving Benoit for a forward clearly won't move the needle, so the only answer here is Rielly. All the other Defenseman are in good standing with the leafs and not getting traded.

What forwards are out there that's equivalent to Morgan Reilly, both from a Talent perspective and Age/Salary perspective?

Steven Stamkos? Tyler Bertuzzi?

Tampa fans seem really fed up with Cirelli. That would be a match made in heaven...

Good on Toronto for not just giving JT what he wants. Always said, if they aren't signing him below market value, then there's no point in bringing him back.
I have always felt Tavares 11 million cap hit vs impact was the real killer not 16 the last few years. 91 was overpaid now it’s time for a team friendly deal. Leafs fans have cut him slack but that changes instantly if he ends up being another dollar chaser after how much he has made in his career.

Trading Morgan Reilly for a Equivalent Forward version, and then signing someone like Brent Burns (low term and cheap deal to preserve capspace for next year)...makes a lot of sense.

McCabe - Tanev
OEL - Carlo
Benoit - Burns

Brent Burns fits the "puck mover" comment Treliving made and is a veteran Berube would like. More balanced D core

Essentially replacing Robertson with Mangiapane… We’re going to need a lot more than that.

Considering how bad we suck at Puck moving I'd be trying hard to get Dobson.

Cowan, Danford, Robertson (or any forward not Knies, Nylander, Matthews)

Your not going to find a fit like Dobson for us. PP1, RHD pick mover, scored 70pts 2 years ago.
He's regressed last year due to an ankle injury I think. Really likely to bounce back. He's basically Marners pp1 replacement.

unless he goes to New York, I think Matthews likes the spotlight a lot. He won't really get that attention anywhere else
