If this team once again fails to proceed very far in the playoffs, what would you want them to do?

Ladies and gentlemen, your 25/26 Toronto Maple Leafs!!!

Knies - Matthews - Domi
Holmberg - Tavares - Nylander
McMann - Laughton - Jarnkrok
Quillan - Kampf - Reaves

Rielly - Carlo
McCabe - Tanev
Benoit - Ekman Larsson

Stolarz - Woll

Can’t wait to add Mangiapane from free agency to this group to play with JT and Willy!

Just kidding… Common Tre let’s see some MOVES!!!!!!

That’s not bad, you’d hope there would be 3 other destinations he would not want to go to. I still don’t really see Colorado looking to move him so soon, I think they’d rather move Colton/Wood.
I’m not sure if they prefer moving Colton given age and contract but I’d be interested in both him and Coyle.

A "saving the money for mcdavid" line-up.

Coyle would be better than Colton. However JT is still a better option at 2C than either IMO. With Coyle, I can see a shutdown third line with Laughton - Coyle on it. Than Tavares - Nylander on the second with Knies - Matthews on the first.

Coyle hasn't been a shutdown C since Bergeron and Krejci retired. I'd give him a chance with Knies and Nylander to replicate his 22/23 production. I've seen enough of Tavares/Nylander. Also Laughton should be nowhere near a shutdown line. I'd be trading Laughton for Coyle. My current ideal forward group is:

Domi-Matthews-Tippett
Knies-Coyle-Nylander
X-Tavares-Raddysh
Pospisil-Kastelic-Hathaway

Look up to this point I've been VERY happy with the job Treliving has done, ESPECIALLY when it comes to the defense, I LOVE the defense.

But it bothers me that Treliving missed out on Marchment especially at THAT price.

Now he does have a 10 team NTC and maybe the Leafs are on it and there is nothing Treliving could have done, after all they already traded him once maybe it pissed him off and he went "f*** you."

But if that's not the case and they CHOSE not to beat a 3rd and a 4th for a big top 6 20+ goal scoring LW.

And make no mistake if the Leafs aren't on his 10 team no trade list then they CHOSE not to get him given the price he went for.

And IF that is the case and I don't know if it is.

But IF it is Treliving made a HUGE mistake

I think Jeff Skinner is a great buy-low candidate. Can't imagine his contract would be too much after the year he just had.
Kane is also someone the leafs could probably acquire for pennies on the dollar, given the oilers need to make room.

Skinner had his opportunity last year and chose Edmonton over Toronto. Needed an injury to happen to get in playoff games… No thanks.

Florida picked up a number of players, from other teams trash heaps, and made them into players... they took some risks, and they mostly worked out. I'm not saying Marchment is going to turn into a star or anything, but we have to take some risks, and find some players who might fit better here. He has his warts, as all players do... He'll cost next to nothing, and provide some good regular season stats.

He, and pretty much everyone here need to find ways to be better in the playoffs... it's kind of a weird a big physical guy struggles at the time when he should excel though... perhaps speed being the issue. But then you can work on your skating to some degree.

But... when you compare what he's paid, to what some of the UFA's will get paid.. it will kind of be a cheap contract. I think Evander Kane is a guy who gets moved as well... perfect... not at all... but he's fast AND physical... a little over the edge at times for sure.. but that's kind of what we are doing this year... shopping at the discount store, to fill a want.
I believe from percentile ranks hes like 40 percentile worse than tavares and pacioretty when it comes to skating speed lol thats why he sucks

Just saying but both Matthews and McDavid have the same agent
