Their next 1st is in 2027, their next 2nd is in 2026. They do have Savoie and O'Reilly. Maybe there's a collection of assets there but no draft picks that the Leafs can turn into prospects any time soon. They have a need in net. We have a surplus in net. Makes sense for them to use an asset to acquire a need and we're doing the same
First plus more is what I'd like prospect or second is ideal given his contract and the lack of options
Two, hopefullyI am hyper focused on waking up in the morning, and seeing they haven't dropped the bomb in my neighourhood.
I hope they mean in addition to Tavares.
They need to sign 2 centers.
Two, hopefully
One to replace JT, another to do what Laughton was supposed to do.
All sound like a decent option.Their next 1st is in 2027, their next 2nd is in 2026. They do have Savoie and O'Reilly. Maybe there's a collection of assets there but no draft picks that the Leafs can turn into prospects any time soon.
I agree that having one of Stolarz or Woll as a back up is a wasted asset. I just think Stolarz is better and Woll returns more in a trade. All sound like a decent option.
I like Stolarz but it's likely a luxury/asset we're wasting

I'm grasping at straws here while watching this game. Mangiapane-Henrique-Brown were awesome together for Canada at the world championships in 2021. Henrique could probably had for free or close to that this summer given Edmonton's cap troubles. Mangiapane and Brown will both be UFAs and will probably cost ~6M total. That could be an interesting 3rd line or even a 4th line depending on how deep Tre is willing to build a team. Obviously all 3 players are 4 years older and we're talking about a 7 game sample.
Donato is likely the best fit from the under-30 group. That would require trades, not free agents.
Maybe they should sign 4 centers all around $5mm each, and see if two of them work out?
There just might be some untapped potential in the free agents everyone is turning their nose up on?
I worry about him even though I just proposed bringing him on 5 minutes ago.I expect Mangiapane to be a target of Tr less at minimum given their history. Probably a decent probability he's a Leaf
Donato is likely the best fit from the under-30 group.
However, looking for players who need a change or teams that are willing to make money moves to create cap space for someone else is what they should be focusing on.
Danault is one I'd really like to get, but LA is an awkward partner. So, perhaps J.G. Pageau?
Is Seattle content with Stephenson? What about Vegas with Karlson or even Roy and Howden?
Possibly even ROR or Kadri reunions as well.
The idea of Donato-Nylander 2nd line scares me. You'd need a significant defensive presence at LW.Donato is likely the best fit from the under-30 group.

Someone like Robinson could fit that, but yeah, it's not preferred. Also, it's usually too difficult to get Americans to sign up here anyway unless you drastically overpay or they come from another Canadian team. The idea of Donato-Nylander 2nd line scares me. You'd need a significant defensive presence at LW.
compared to Torontos
I'm fine with moving either personally, whatever makes the most sense on returnI agree that having one of Stolarz or Woll as a back up is a wasted asset. I just think Stolarz is better and Woll returns more in a trade.
You'd need an elite 3rd player on that line to make it viable.Actually, finding a good defensive winger and stapling him to Domi would make him a viable candidate for the 3rd C spot, at least for one year.

You don't think Pacioretty is the answer? You'd need an elite 3rd player on that line to make it viable.
Hawks are talking Bertuzzi buy-out.To Toronto: Tyler Bertuzzi
To Chicago: Nick Robertson + 3rd Round Draft Pick
So long as the question is: "most likely Leaf to retire"You don't think Pacioretty is the answer?
They are not talking about buying him out. A fan wrote that in a blog.Hawks are talking Bertuzzi buy-out.
No reason to trade assets unless they are majorly retaining.
The 1st would be in 2027. Sam O'Reilly would be a good target though. I wonder if the Leafs could get O'Reilly for McMann straight up.Wonder how much the Oilers would pay for Woll. They will desperately need goaltending help (whether or not their front office realizes that is another matter) and they are obsessed with acquiring former Leafs.
Probably could get a 1st. Not sure what their prospect pool likes
