If this team once again fails to proceed very far in the playoffs, what would you want them to do?

I quite like OEL, and I'd say it may be Tres most underrated moves.

BUT, his value has probably dramatically rebounded. And if the Leafs plan on bringing an upgrade to the top. Four via a free agency signing, his caphit starts to get rich for a third pairing guy and makes more sense to trade.

The fact is,.the Leafs are going to need to bring in some new bodies other than free agents this offseason. They're going to need to trade some things of value. If he could be flipped for a centre (or say Carlo for a centre) the team be ones better for it
Trade Rielly keep him in the top 4

Zib is more of what we already had and have(soft no heart)
Bring in guys like Marchand and Kadri, etc less of the soft no heart guys
If I’m trading with the Rangers, I’d prefer Trocheck. Coyle or Karlsson would also be what I’d bring in as 2C with Nylander.
Then next year (if unsigned) I throw the bank at McD.

I swear, Jonas Siegel reads this forum. Guess what the first discussion was on overdrive today? Yep, the Bennet vs. Zbad debate you guys brought up. LOL Siegel wanted Zbad over Bennett. O'Dog and Hayes were furious. Here:

Yeah Siegel is nobias or dekes.

Trading for players like Zibby & Bert for pennies on the dollar are the moves Toronto should be looking into.

It's not hard to see someone like Zibby regaining his form playing along side Nylander & first PP reps. Now there's massive risk at 8.5m for 5 years if he flops, but at the current state of the Leafs, it's probably a risk they need to take.
I think Zibbys decline is due to age and he's probably never going to be a ppg player again.

You’d have to know who the players are to properly assess.
i dont know how to trade Woll and go with a high 33 carreer game Stolarz and cowan for a middle 6 and a 4th line player making leafd better
or
trading your #1 D who played the higher opposition and who had been all year long 1 of best pair in the entire Nhl with Tanev for a guy who's played biggest part of playoff on a 3rd pair? but yeah he did well in thst role in playoff

So yes you some hole in the foward group but create an even bigger hole in the defensive end and goaltending

For the 1st time in last 2 decade leafs didn't had huge hole in D or G to start a regular season and you want to broke it?

ps you will never get goncalves in an offersheet for this at 2,32M.. not even close

Maybe, but even if he's putting up 65-70 points it's fine value, especially if they are giving up little assets.

Last year on a broken NYR team he put up 62p, 72p when they won the presidents trophy. I think good players playing on bad teams blinds people to a degree. Seth Jones is an example of this, remember people saying he's awful, but looks like a star on FLA.

The fall off from McCabe to Walman and Woll to Talbot is next to minimal compared to the increased forward depth.

I don’t understand why there’s so many untouchables for a team that can’t get past the 2nd round.

Woll could be their most tradeable asset. It also depends if Tre intends to extend Stolarz this July.

I love Stolarz but nobody can be confident he will be healthy and play starting goalie minutes

Woll is not the issue. Look elsewhere

This is kind of the view I have on the Leafs. Obviously cap is growing. But the Leafs should set a limit on the number they give players.

If we give Knies 8m, I don't think you sign anyone higher than that unless it's an absolute stud. It's probably the best to build an internal cap. Obviously this changes if Kaprizov or Makar or McDavid asks to play here

I think with Matthews, Marner, Nylander, and Tavares the Leafs couldnt really afford anyone over $5 million. I am hoping the Leafs can sign Knies at closer to $7 million x 7-8 years but I guess we will see. I dont think he should be over $8 million and he should have 8 years at that amount. As much as we all love him, I dont think he has 80+ point upside. I see him more as a 60 point player. Nylander has more offensive upside imo.

$6 million for Stolarz is a bit rich imo. He has fit in amazing but I think at $6 million a team would want a goalie who can play 50+ regular season games + playoffs.
