I could see Landeskog going on LTIR. They’ll need to do something to get Malinksi signed. He’s well worth a 2.34M offer sheet if Colorado doesn’t open the space for him.Someone will go on LTIR.

No you keep Carlo the point of signing Ekblad would be
A to bring in somebody other than Rielly that can produce offense.
B it gives you Ekblad, Tanev, Carlo that's arguably the best right side in the league.
OEL would be the guy you deal.
OEL goes nowhere IMHO, he's better than Reilly at less than half the cost. This team needs to push Reilly out of town or buy him outNo you keep Carlo the point of signing Ekblad would be

Would love to give him a shot but what do we realistically have to trade for that?Rangers Have Approached Top Center
According to The Athletic's Arthur Staple, the Rangers have reportedly already asked their top centerman to consider a fresh start, noting that finding a fit for the 32-year-old that has five years remaining on his deal.
"There's a chance that Drury has already worked it out with Zibanejad, who has five years at a $8.5 million average annual value remaining plus a full no-move clause, that moving on would be best," wrote Staple before suggesting the Leafs as a potential target. "They'd still need to find a fit -the Leafs might have some interest and some space to fill."
The cap hit is manageable, but the five years remaining and no-movement clause might be tough to swallow for the Maple Leafs even though Zibanejad is 32-years-old.
If the Leafs were to add the Swedish pivot, he would have an instant spot centering William Nylander and it would allow the Leafs to shift John Tavares to the wing or into the third-line center spot - as long as they are able to re-sign him.

There's gonna be a few times wanting a good centermen in Zibanajad.
Holmberg and Robertson... reluctantly.Rangers Have Approached Top Center

Wouldn't mind it, big and plays a power forward game and good numbers in the playoffs.Over rated by 2 mil
They can keep him
I think the estimated cap for next season is 95.5 million. With Knies' extension coming how much cap space do people anticipate the Leafs having assuming Marner is gone?
why? he can't skate well enough to forecheck and sucks in the crunch time so bad stars fans were holding prayer circles to get him off the team. not sure why everyone here has a raging boner for this guy. Crouse is what everyone thinks this guy isMason Marchment seems like an absolute given doesn't it? Dallas is looking to clear salary, so we can give them practically peanuts or heck even Nick Robertson one for one? Super cheap player with upside.
Marchment seems like an ideal Treliving/Berube player
dont his stats go up in the playoffs relative to his regular season ppgOver rated by 2 mil

We don’t know how healthy he really feels after actually playing games. He very well could be good to go and continue his career.I think that's a tough sell. Landeskog just came back healthy, so it's pretty sketchy to say he isn't again.
I think the fact that our core 5 just never produce in playoffs are more of a problem than anything. If Matthews signed 8 years he’s still have 2 years left at whatever cap hit (still below McDavid).
If Nylander signed 8 years he’d still be making 6.9M this year.
If Marner signed 8 years he’d still have 2 years left.
Not getting 8 years was more important than any tax advantages.

That’s like not producing at all, lolThey produce sometimes in the playoffs.... just not when it matters most.
But if you can move Reilly......................Adding Ekblad to our current defensive core is a waste of cap space.
We need top-9 forwards a lot more than we need to push Simon Benoit out of the lineup.
Spend the money where it helps the most. Let’s not repeat the Tavares mistake.
