If I had more access to data, I’d be scouring this list, for more players on the right and moving on from as much on the left as I could.

That's a pretty bad look for Matthews and Marner.

Yup, I said it. And I know I'm in the minority and I don't care.

Now personally I think he's going home to Winnipeg.

But I think the Leafs need to bring him in.

I know he's been off for 2 years, I don't care, I know he's 37, I don't care, I know he's not 2013 Towes, I don't care.

There has been a lot of talk about changing the DNAespecially at forward, and when people say that what they actually mean is the top 6.

This forward group needs an overhaul and that includes the bottom 6.

You want to talk about changing the DNA you need to bring in people that bring in winning credibility and Towes brings that.

Get rid of Kampf any way you have to and bring Towes in to replace him.

He's not 2013 Towes I don't expect to be, but even after 2 years away he's a cheap upgrade on David Kampf.

This team has A LOT of work to do up front and this should be a piece.

He's a worse player than Kampf until he shows he's not

I’m all fir signing him for a Patches like deal, wouldn’t mind his buddy Kane coming along too. Patches us welcomed back in my world, that’s a whole lot of heart and winning attitude for not much money. Then add more snot and watch the loser attitude become restricted to 34, 88, and 44. Those plugs can’t be saved………

Patches is a dinosaur but was the mist physical forward on the team kast playoffs, that tells me younger players aren’t necessarily the answer…….

That's what it is.

Towes is better.

There's about 800 players better than Kampf, most are younger than 37 and haven't been sitting at home for 2 years.

10 million for Bennett is pretty wild… Not sure if I would want to pay him that kind of money, even with the cap going up…

Since a few around here crushed my McLeod dream, I would turn to Columbus and look at Sillinger. Something around Woll for Sillinger and then sign Vladar in free agency. I’m warming up to the idea of a Rielly for Kreider deal. Second line, Kreider - Sillinger - Nylander

I proposed Sillinger for Woll on the main boards not that long ago and it sounds like CBJ is still really high on Sillinger. They have a glut of NHL C's (Fantilli, Monahan, Voronkov, Jenner, Sillinger) and young C's who could be on the roster soon (LDBB, Lindtrom). It would make sense for them to move off one to shore up the net.

Agree eith this, but Toews could really help, worth a shot, I didn’t think Patches could help, I was dead wrong he was the best dollar value last playoffs imo…….

I was initially against the thought of Toews but never thought of it in this light.

I thought Pacioretty was going to be a dud and he was great.

Trent Frederic will be interesting this summer. He seemed destined for a 4M+ deal after the 22/23 and 23/24 season where he put up 17&18 goals. His production fell off a cliff this year. He is still one of the toughest players in the league and he will be one of the youngest UFAs. He will be on "discount" this summer relative to his production a year ago. He is probably the biggest boom/bust UFA available.

Looking at the difference between this year and last. He went from having JVR and Geekie as his most common linemates to Coyle and Brazeau which isn't really a huge downgrade. He did see his top end speed drop off from 22.75 mph (77th percentile) to 22.05 mph (<50th percentile).

He's seen a steady decline in his overall impact (EvolvingHockey GAR).

You deal kampf regardless as he's not a need.

You dont sign toews to anything but a PTO to see if he's NHL caliber at this point.

You still should be looking at other better options than Toews to play 10-11 mins a night

You structure the Toews deal similar to the Pacioretty one with bonuses and go from there. I think he'll get legit non PTO offers so that's probably not going to happen. He'll be near league minimum for sure. If a team is offering more than that, then you move on. It's that simple.

If the Leafs bring in Toews, and I hope they don't, they should bring in Raddysh to play 4RW with him. Raddysh had a career year playing with Toews during his last season. He would bring much needed speed and familiarity to a Toews lead 4th line.

Yeah I think we would need to add to Woll but I think Sillinger is the type of younger center I would be looking for.

I believe Toews has CIRS and would love to see him make a comeback.
My wife has it and copes well enough now. We have a very good idea what it’s in response to and keep a very close eye everything.
