only if Holl is immediately moved, addition by subtraction imo............Holl for Rielly. Who says no?

Holl for Rielly. Who says no?
That’s the most interesting name among UFA D for me. Age, handedness, skill set contract projections.Fabbro could easily be that adjustment
Another one bites the dust...Tik tok Mr. Boston Pizza Junior.
He actually played really well for Avs. But good thing leafs didn't sign a deal like that

Whoa. I admit, I fell for the "he's going to Minnesota" rumours. A self-reminder that I need to stop listening to rumours.

Tavares is a year older but he put up better numbers. Going to be tough to get him to sign a cheaper deal than that.
It really depends on Tavares priorities at this point. Surely he could find someone to pay him more than that... and at the same time, we can't, or at least shouldn't.
I've said before, but I'd love a 6 x $3.5 mil deal. It's pretty close to the same money as Nelson's contract, just spread out over years he probably won't play, or won't be all that effective.
The challenge of course... is who will be left at C? It's not a great list, and in all honesty, we have just Matthews who should be a full time C signed right now... Ok, Kampf is a C, but I seem him being moved... which leaves Domi and Laughton to be used at C, and both are better used at W.
Bennett -> I think, and others do as well... he likely extends in Florida
Granlund
Duchene
Dvorak
Bjugstad
Suter
I'll take Holl @ $3.4m for 1 more year over Rielly @ $7.5m for 5 more year in a heartbeat. No brainer for me.Toronto says no.
Having Holl at $3.4 mil, is worse than having Rielly at $7.5 mil.
If we move off of Rielly, we are going to need to spend that cap on a replacement, so we can't afford to take that kind of dead cap. I can't see Holl being moveable at that point.... so we'd be stuck with him.
If he were to be moved, which I doubt would happen... I'd like a depth offensive player, or prospect back, and not much else. One scenario that could make sense, would be to Vancouver, to replace Hughes if they move him to NJD to play with his brother.... Something like Sherwood back is appealing to me... low cap hit, useful player.
Bennett I would do 7.5M x5-6 years and frontload the F out of it. I feel like that deal should have gotten done by now.
Granlund...certainly open to him, I think he could be a good centre for Nylander
Duchene is fast but 1 playoff goal this year...Suter would be an okay 3C.
4C - Told you I am between Toews/Kuraly/Quillan/Faksa, I don't know why but Bjugstad doesn't seem like he'd come here, maybe I am wrong, even have my doubts about Kuraly.
Not necessarily but you could immediately buy him out and the cap hit would not hurt as much as the one to buy Rielly out. Rielly has to go and one year of Holl at less than half one year of Rielly would be too good to be true if you ask me.only if Holl is immediately moved, addition by subtraction imo............

Holl would not be in the top 6. You bring in the puck mover and PP QB that Rielly is no longer. I like Ekblad but he has too many hard miles. Provorov? Maybe Tre trades for Andersson? Either way I'd rather sit and eat $3.4m of Holl's money or buy him out over $37.5m and 5 more years of Rielly. Our D would be toast next year... no chance management torpedos the team for a year, to get out of Rielly... If they move Rielly, it won't be to handcuff the team for an even worse D... I get the term, but your position is one of... that's the only way we could get rid of Rielly... which wouldn't be the case.
offer him to the Penguins, I highly doubt Boy Wonder couldn't turn that run it back down,,,,,,,,,,,,,Not necessarily but you could immediately buy him out and the cap hit would not hurt as much as the one to buy Rielly out. why not , it's not like dumping Marleau and losing a first rounder, addition by subtraction...........I'll take Holl @ $3.4m for 1 more year over Rielly @ $7.5m for 5 more year in a heartbeat. No brainer for me.
In a worst case scenario we have Matthews-Tavares-Laugton-Kampf down the middle.
I think we can upgrade things. I think if Leafs can sign Ehlers and Granlund that would probabaly be a good line with Nylander. We can probabaly get both of them for same price of Marner.
The Bennett stuff is getting a little over the top. He is a good player who brings a lot of stuff to the table but he is still a ~50 point player who broke 50 points barely for the first time at 28 years old. Bennett would be fun to play on the 3rd line with Laughton and Domi but I am not sure if we can make the money work while still needing someone to play on the top line.
We should give Matthews the Crosby treatment and give him McCann on the top line. For what Matthews makes and the size of his ego he should be able to bring out the best in another player.
Knies-Matthews-McCann
Ehlers-Granlund-Nylander
Laughton-Bennett-Domi
Lorentz-Kampf-Holmberg
It looked like a good deal at the time but in a couple of year, the Rielly contract could be more difficult to move than Marleau's. Dubas left Tre with a time bomb. I'm guessing the few remaining Dubasites and Riellly fanboys will disagree. LOL.why not , it's not like dumping Marleau and losing a first rounder, addition by subtraction...........
Thankfully their numbers are steadily on the decline..........It looked like a good deal at the time but in a couple of year, the Rielly contract could be more difficult to move than Marleau's. Bennett is going to be paid like an elite 2C, you're kind of paying for what he will do for you in the playoffs, not the regular season.
I don't see a world where Kampf returns.
