Roster Building/Team Building/Future Trade/Drafting thread.

If this team once again fails to proceed very far in the playoffs, what would you want them to do?

Tree needs to have some long walks on the beaches of Buffalo with Grier from San Jose at the combine. They have tonnes of cap space and a derth of vets to surround their young talent. They could be a nice landing spot for any combo of Rielly, Domi, Jarnkrok, Kampf, Reaves.

I would target Kostin, I think he has good size and speed and hits, and untapped potential, he did well on Edmonton, but has struggled on teams who weren't good. He'sRFA, can probably give him the same money Jarnkrok was making, but SJ gets JK at half the actual dollars.
Also Ferraro, as a Rielly replacement if he were to magically go.

We can't rebuild we have no draft picks.
In theory IF they had the self awareness to accept this core ain’t winning shit, AND had the stones to have a “core” yard sale they would have plenty of picks and prospects to rebuild with, but it’s just a opium dream……..

Replace 2 players with 3.

We're talking $22mm in Cap Space, not trying to pay 3 players with $10mm.

Knies has earned a raise. That's it.

So no 1st. liners coming in, but definitely can get 3 players capable of playing on the 2nd. line.
Team depth, what a novel idea…….

I think that, now that we know that Reilly is probably staying, I wouldn't touch the D-core in the summer. These guys have all earned another year. They were mostly great (except for carrying the puck out of the D zone).

However, I would tell Rielly (in a polite way) that he has to spend the summer training and come to camp thinner and more fit than ever. If he starts sucking, I'd trade him during the year. I think that's fair for everyone. That puts Rielly's fate in his own hands.

NMC ...

Leafs control is ice time and playing time.

I know that the return will be underwhelming and I'm not blaming him for the series against FLA, but could we not sign a veteran goalie for $1M to back up Stolarz if he's healthy?

If they plan on building through FA, 3.7 for Woll seems steep

Or even roll the dice and use The Beast?

Can someone help a brother out? Trying to use the GM mode in PP. After you add player to trade, where do you go to access the trade? Using mobile app. Cheers.

Has anyone heard if Mitch has said anything about waiving negtiation rights only? I know that it's a no to a sign and trade. I don't see how it changes anything for him if either or both Leafs and him are certain for it to be over. It would obviously have to be to a team that he's interested in. Even ask Ferris for 3 teams to work with.

If he's going to Vegas, you would have to think that they ask Stone to waive. That would be nearly a quarter of the cap tied up into 2 RW. What team would do that...

Believe his agent has said they don’t care about the 8th year. That would mean there’s no reason to waive.

Makes sense when you just care about getting max dollars. Short contract and wait for the cap to rise.

For sure, I get that its inferred. I just wanted to know if he has publicly said anything specific. The only thing that changes for him is that he gets to hear one pitch a few weeks early.

Kane would be a nice add but he’s not playing 22 minutes a night every night at this stage of his career. Realistically he’s a sheltered 14-15 mins at ES and however the PP time shakes out.

Benn-Tavares-Kane would be a funny “if only we had a Time Machine” 3rd line but it leaves the top6 looking sparse.
