If this team once again fails to proceed very far in the playoffs, what would you want them to do?

On the preds boards it's a combination of both, I think Brunette isn't NHL caliber but Trotz's insistence in keeping him is a bad move if we want to win.

Ror should be moved out next deadline or hung on to for veteran leadership for no.5/McKenna. We needed warm bodies and Bunting fit Brunette's "system" more than Novak did.
Schenn was a head scratcher though.

That's the Ferris special. Been said a few times. He likes to go to free agency and get the best contract for his client regardless of the 7 or 8 year deal.
Bad year when the top 2 FA are Ferris clients. No wonder why people are thinking Bennett gonna get 10 mil.

We need someone to make our players feel uncomfortable call out players.

Bennett Marchant Perry will speak there mind .

Who else

Knies will be that player soon

I thought the idea was to improve the team’s makeup, Kane’s a great player shen he wants to be, but I don’t think his off ice issues will help with the aforementioned makeup……
His off ice issues haven't been issues for the last 3 years. It's time people move on

I mean, i shouldn't be angry because he's a FA but saying this is your childhood team and knowing you're going to walk but not doing anything to at least help before you leave is a bit frustration.

Here's hoping he leaves, and the leafs end up going further in the playoffs

Looking at it from an asset management perspective. Instead of changing the forward core through UFA, why not sign Ekblad and Gavrikov? Then trade Rielly and McCabe for forward pieces, or at least assets we can use to trade for them?

Why would Marner help the Leafs if he’s leaving? Why would anyone really care about that? If anything you hope your previous team does worse without you.

The real question mark is not caring about that 8th year if you’re looking to sign a 7 year deal regardless in free agency.

I've looked at wrong in offering Rielly for Kreider since that doesn't save them cap. I wonder if Robertson + McMann or a package with one of them + another could get it done. Gives you a guy who can potentially score 20 at half the price.

I'll start by saying that I realize that it's probably (almost assuredly) not going to happen. But I'm bored and have been trying different ways of retooling. Nothing I do makes the team a contender for either next season or in the long term. I think that we're all in need of a little levity, so let's see your NHL 2025 ideas for an excellerated rebuild.

Matthews 50% retained
To Utah for
Cooley
Guenther
4OA

Nylander
Rielly
To Nashville for
5OA
23OA
26OA

Sign Marner 1 x $19
Promise to trade him to a contender at the TDL. Tell him that his legacy will be fixed. Basically the opposite of Sundin at the end of his career.
FOR
2 1STs

Jake McCabe
To Buf for
Byram
Kids, let this post be a lesson to you. Please, don't do drugs.

Knies - Matthews - Domi
Kreider - Idk - Nylander
Mangiapane - Tavares - Marchand

Could be a fun top 9
Kreider, Tavares and Marchand will all be 35+. I have no issue with a couple 35+ players on the roster—especially if they’re still producing like Tavares and Chris Tanev. Florida has Marchand, Edmonton has Perry—veterans who produce. But if the Leafs start stacking up multiple 35+ year old contracts, especially with guys like Tanev, OEL and maybe Pacioretty, already on board, the roster starts to feel old fast. Suddenly we’re looking more like Nashville or the Islanders—teams that tend to play slower, and struggle with pace.

I'm hoping we add one of Granlund or Duchene and Tavares down the middle because I think they are the best fits, then I'm hoping for some younger additions on the wing or on D if we flip Rielly.

Im done with Toronto guys coming home to play for their childhood team
It has always backfired for the leafs

Second who has 14 million free space to simply offer it to Marner??? Let him walk and call his bluff…who cares if he goes
Leafs will survive, not like he’s given us much success…people talking like this guy got us multiple cups!!
