Marner isn’t signing that. If he wants to do short term he can go to free agency and will get offered more money on short term from another team.Marner 12m x 3/4
Knies 4.75x 2/3

No way he does that. Going through all this drama just to kick the can 3-4 years down the road just to go through this again doesn’t make sense. He’s not going to do short term lol he’s going to get paid and paid long term. I’ll eat my shoes if he signs a 3 or 4 year deal and I’ll post picsMaybe. He may also consider it due to not wanting to relocate - and can get a sizable payout again when he is 31/32

Agreed. I just don’t see how that works.
With 26 million to spend.
13 for Marner.
6 for JT.
Then 7 for knies? Maybe I guess? But seems light if he gets to 30 goals.
I think Knies will be in the 7-7.9; conversation if they want.8 years. Try and hold firm.on Marner, give JT salary deferral to get it down as much as possible and then a combination of Kampf, Jarnkrok, Domi all potentially get replaced as needed with cheaper options

So keep doing what we’ve been doing for the last decade?
Agreed. If there is one thing tre knows how to do it's create a really strong blueline. Carlo has been a great partner for Rielly. The one thing I think Rielly needs to do this off season is try and lose 10-15 pounds to get faster again.
Marner isn't signing here, writing is on the wall but we should probably look to have enough cap space for the year after with an amazing free agent class available.
I mentioned it before but I would go hard after Boeser if Marner goes elsewhere. The C options aren’t the best. So may have to bring back JT as a stop gap
My thought process so to speak, is if Marner doesn't come extend. Knies contract should be the ceiling AAV for forwards we add. Nylander/Matthews are their own group.I'd consider Patrick Kane on a one year deal stop gap. He still plays the game at a pretty high level, and would probably look good beside Matthews. Plus, a one year deal would give us plenty of options for the good crop of UFA's the year after....
Interesting what we do for the 2nd line C option
Tavares at reduced rate? I don't see anything good out there.
Where do you think he might sign? Vancouver? If Leafs were signing Marner it would have happened by now. The fans chased him out of town.
I think he'd go somewhere south where there is less tax and low media presence. He really really hates the media and news surrounding the team and can't handle it, and often goes out of his way to create a 'you vs us' narrative with them.Where do you think he might sign? Vancouver?
Wow, who other then the main boards menace, 1specter!I think he'd go somewhere south where there is less tax and low media presence. He really really hates the media and news surrounding the team and can't handle it, and often goes out of his way to create a 'you vs us' narrative with them.
I think he’s gonna sign in Washington. They have cap space, they are at the top of the standings, lower taxes, not too far from home but far enough that the weathers a bit better, lower taxes, less pressure and you don’t have to deal with quite as much bullshit. My prediction is Washington trades a pick for his rights and signs him to an 8 year 13.5 million deal.Where do you think he might sign? Vancouver?
