Seems like a good fit at 2C in Winnipeg until Yager might be able to step in

- producing well on an underachieving Preds team
- 4.5M cap hit
- no trade protection (always the frst thing Jets fans look at)

What would the ask be from Nashville? Not to be a jerk, but it's tough to say which direction that franchiseis moving in.... roster players? Picks?

I don't believe Trotz would be willing to trade O'Reilly. He brought him in to be the team leader, and I suspect even if this season is in the tank, Trotz is just going to cling to the same formula and same hopes for a turnaround next season. There isn't really going to be any "ask" therefore. :(

Fit wise... I agree. ROR to Peg does feel like a great fit.

I'd think that trade starts with Pegs best prospect.

Something like ROR for Nashville's choice of Yager, Lambert or Barlow + 2025 1st (top 12 protected, but currently projected as 30th overall) + Ville Heinola (youngish throw in).

Can't imagine this happens, but just for discussion, Nashville doesn't need a 1st. They already have 3 in this upcoming draft. So instead of a package where a 1st is the main piece, I'd think it's just a 1 for 1 for a good prospect.

Couldn't we just save Trotz the trouble and trade him for a bad veteran and trade them the bad veteran instead?

I don't think O'Reilly is going to be keen to go to Winnipeg. Granted, he doesn't actually have trade protection on his contract. But I would guess based on the degree of mutual woo'ing he and Trotz did in getting him to Nashville, he essentially has an unwritten no-move. He'd have to ask out. Maybe he would, who knows, but he does already have a Cup, and I would fall out of my chair in surprise if he did get traded this season. Make the craziest offer imaginable (Yager + Salomonsson + 1st say) and... I suspect Trotz would still turn it down. He's that infatuated with O'Reilly. :(

Trotz has already made some iffy moves in his short GM career but if he turns down Yager + Salomonsson and a 1st for a 32 year old centre on a team that isn't looking like it will compete during the next 2.5 years, then he should be fired on the spot

I'd do the Barlow, Heinola and a 1st in a heartbeat but any talk of our best prospects 1 for 1 is a no-go

Nobody in Preds land would object if Trotz was fired on the spot. But suffice to say, your GM is not going to make that crazy offer anyway, and even if he did our crazy GM probably wouldn't take it. It is meant to illustrate that you all are advised to look elsewhere for your playoff boost, alas. Believe me, I wish it weren't so. :help:

Im not well versed in Winnipeg's prospect pipeline. We are rather thin in Nashville at RHD and Center. We have alot of center prospects but nothing really top end. If we traded RoR, we would probably need a top end RHD prospect as i think would end up getting a top 5 pick in the 2025 draft and get our future center that way.

So a top end RHD prospect, return cap to even cap out, and some lesser picks/prospects if the value is still off

Hes not worth the price Nashville will ask for from the Jets. He's not the same player he was and that negative slide will continue as he ages. A 1st and a solid but not high end prospect is the most anyone should pay for him.
