I fully expect him to take over from Holmgren in not very long from now. If that happens, would he be the first guy under one of our GM's to jump to another team and take their GM post?

While this may be true, he left us for essentially the same job right now (assistant GM). I can't help but feel sort of betrayed. If he left for an ACTUAL GM job, then great. But just doesn't really sit right with me. We don't know what went on behind the scenes but I don't really like this.

Wish him all the best regardless. Thanks for the years of hard work, Ron!

Meh, I don't feel betrayed. He helped us win a Cup, so whatever he does is fine with me. He will be a GM somewhere soon.

Was curious about this move (It seems much bigger than the scant publicity it's receiving) and was curious about this, as well

Was Hextall Director of Hockey Operations in LA? Because he's become the A.GM and Director of Hockey Ops. If he was, than it's a really baffling move, unless he's basically been told: "Holmgren won't be GM next year, he'll either be fired or moved upstairs".

No, and he was also the GM of our AHL club. Which it appears he no longer will be with the Flyers.

Love Ron. This is pretty crappy news but we all knew that he was going to leave eventually; we just thought it would be for an actual GM position though.

The guy is a Flyer. That's really the bottom line. I can see a move where Holmgren gets bumped up somewhere in the organization and Ron takes over the GM role sometime soon. Might as well get acclimated to the organization and the players.

Kings still have a strong management team; I'm sure DL will replace him with someone competent.

Mark Morris was Hextall's hire. Mark doesn't have a contract to come back to Manchester. I vaguely remember Tonelli saying something about Dean not being the biggest fan of Mark? I might be totally wrong here so don't quote me on it. Anyways, I really do wish Ron all the best. I guess I just didn't want to see him go unless it was for an NHL GM job. Also, Mark better be back.

Sad to see him go but happy if it means hes a gm. This now makes philly more kings west lol . PLease tell me sutter isnt getting his role. I really hope someone new enters the team. Some fresh blood crosses fingers.

I don't understand this at all, why leave for basically the same position?

Exactly.

I wonder who's on Dean's list to take over for Ron. Jack Ferreira and maybe Luc on the short list? My money is on Jack taking over that role.

We also have Futa and Mike O'Connell.
Maybe if one of them is promoted, TonellisGhost should
get their position. Can we do a write-in for him?

I wonder if Mark Morris leaves (wouldn't want him to) if Nelson Emerson would be a candidate for Manch.
(since he is an on ice instructor for the camps. ?)

I'd rather not see Futa ever out of his role as director of amateur scouting. He's just too good at it. But he too does deserve consideration.

I'll only agree to write in Tonelli if he pesters Dean to trade for Slepyshev. :sarcasm:

I don't like this a lot. Mark Morris was close to leaving for an NHL assistant job and now the man who hired him is gone. But I wonder...would Dean consider Mark Hardy for a coaching capacity in the AHL now?

Too bad they do not have to give up Read as compensation!

The Mayor tweeted a joke but interesting idea: trade Hexy home to bring Lappy home, who's working for the Flyers.

Also a Mayor note: apparently Hextall's contract was up in August. He won't take over until August 1st. So there's that.

I'm guessing Mike O'Connell will be getting a promotion.

O'Connell, Ferreira, Futa have to be the three frontrunners, in no particular order. If I had a choice, it'd be Futa. He's the youngest but has OHL GM experience and can be groomed for a replacement to Dean if he decides to retire/gets fired long down the road. Plus it wouldn't kill our scouting staff as we still have Yannetti to keep the ship going there.
