Power, Helenius, and unprotected 1st as the base would probably get it done. I'd give a lot for both Power and Cozens but I can't imagine Buffalo would touch it

I mean it's either going to be a really good player coming back or a really good prospect. Trotz probably doesn't even ask him to waive unless one or the other is involved.

Josi has 12 even strength points, in 25 games this year. He's nearly been involved in half of Nashville's even strength goals... which is pretty incredible in two ways... first, that a D man is so elite that he's been involved in 12 of 29 even strength goals, and second that Nashville has been so abysmal this year, that they only have 29 even strength goals in 25 games. He's also got points in 10 of their 16 PP goals...

In the event Josi ever asks to be traded and waives his NMC, it will be to a mega-contender poised to win a Stanley Cup. Given it would be an extremely constrained list of destinations (maybe just 1), probably it would be constructed more as a "favor to Josi" than anything where the Preds would truly recoup his full value?

So 2 takeaways from some of the suggestions in this thread: 1) if he gets moved (HIGHLY unlikely), the return may be lower than suggested here, but 2) it won't be coming from Buffalo.

What? Josi isn’t gonna play for another 10+ years to fix this mess?

Even if he were available and he's likely not, I don't think he'd waive his NMC to go from Nashville to Buffalo who hasn't been in the playoffs for 13 years and doesn't look like they will make it this year.

Dude's probably retiring a Predator.

But for shits - something like Power + A-level prospect + 1st rounder.
He's going to be 35 at the end of this season, no chance he even gets Power. Adding a 1st + prospect is LOL

Phenomenal player but lets get real here, no one is trading a former 1st overall pick that's in his early 20s for a good but declining 34 year old D-man.

Ya, no kidding. But that's the point. NSH doesn't want to trade Josi. So why even suggest anything reasonable? They're more than happy to keep him.

It's like if someone asked me how much money I'd want to cut my own thumb off. Since I don't want to do that, I'd have to answer some stupid high number that's clearly worth way more than a thumb. Right? I'm more than happy to keep my thumb?

This is always the answer when someone asks the "price" to acquire a star player when there's absolutely no indication that they're available for trade.

Josi only leaves Nashville if he wants to chase a Cup, ala Bourque. Problem is, how many of the Cup contending teams could fit his salary into their roster? He's signed for another 3 years after this at a little over $9 mil. Salary has to come back for it to work. Maybe you're packaging him with a guy like Sissons or Nyquist or Sissions to make up for any players getting moved back to Nashville. There'd also have to be a specific need for said team to go and acquire him, maybe a long term injury and deal with next years cap hit in the offseason.
