recency bias is off the charts.

How did Get Rich or Die Trying not make it? I'll argue no album post 2000 has had as much influence or was a huge as that was.

likewise, the complete ignoring of hard rock/metal like System of a Down - Toxicity or Slipknot - Iowa and country like Johnny Cash - American IV speaks volumes

I scrolled through the full list, there are some decent picks:

Jay Z - The Blueprint (#12)
Madvillain - Madvillainy (#32)
Kanye West - The College Dropout (#47)
Ghostface Killah - Supreme Clientele (#50)
Jay Z - The Black Album (#54)
Radiohead - In Rainbows (#55)
Clipse - Hell Hath No Fury (#56)
J. Dilla - Donuts (#58)
Brian Wilson - Brian Wilson Presents Smile (#102)
Four Tet - Rounds (#173)
Killer Mike - R.A.P. Music (#180)
Pusha T - Daytona (#201)

Overall though the list is just mostly the most popular albums of the century with some Rate Your Music favourites here and there lol

Strokes should be “Is this it” fwiw. Great Album.

I have never heard of SZA. What is a song I would recognize?

There is almost nothing on earth I hate hearing more than Radiohead.
If you’ve been on TikTok at all the last two years you’ve probably heard her song Kill Bill. Not really my style of music but she has a good voice, and I appreciate her contribution to Kendrick Lamar’s song Gloria, my favourite off his latest album.

It would be funny to see old school Pitchfork and modern Pitchfork put out this list

(tbh I haven't followed them closely in 15+ years. Maybe it wouldn't be funny at all :( )

To the best of my knowledge back in the day it was truly independent, whereas now it’s under the umbrella of Condé Nast and GQ.
Modern Pitchfork are much more commercial and a lot of virtue signaling.

It's like Radiohead is the only modern rock band Gen Zers are allowed to like.

The college dropout guy should be cutoff after his recent behavior dating back to what he did to his wife. Very hypocritical him and Chris Brown always get a pass.
